Hello, and it's so good to have this group. I'm Victoria, and have been a member for a while in this group, yet, I've been rather behind the scenes, learning the in and the out's of this group. I've been blessed with many talents, and one of them is the Wounded Healer. Nince years ago, on a lovely early spring day, I was hiking and taking photographs. The face of the mountain gave way, and I fell first close to 22 feet, and approximately 28 on the second impact. In the end, there were numerous fractures, spinal damage and I was confined to a power wheel chair for a number of years. With the work of many wonderful physicans, the love from my family, the patience from my friends, and a desire to do more in this life time radiating from my heart, I now walk again, though I do use a cane, and have pain as a constant companion. My photography is used now to capture the glorious beauty of this world around us, and my words to help touch or heal others. This is group has enabled many people to come together to share and explore, and I thank you for allowing me to be a part of your day. Blessings and Light, Victoria |

Victoria, Let me be the first to welcome you to our group. I'm glad you found us. Your bio sounds like you have really been through some pretty bad stuff. I'm sorry you are having so much pain as a result of it. It is indeed a miracle that you are walking again after such a terrible accident. Sheer determination and prayers can work miracles can't they? We have alot of great information over in the pale blue column on the left. Be sure to check all that out. And join us in on our "General Message" board to join in our daily conversations. We hardly ever come to the bio board. Normally, only if we have a new member we may go to the bio board to read their bio. If you don't post on the general board you can get overlooked, then that results in disappointment and hurt feelings for our new members. So please, do join us over in the general board. We gripe, we vent, we love and support each over, we offer suggestions, ideas, etc., you name it, our members are there. I know that everyone looks forward to meeting and getting to know you. So jump on in and start posting when you feel comfortable doing so. Happy to have you around! Debra/aka tomcat |

Welcome, Victoria! : ) I'm so sorry we missed this post last week; most people who post for the first time do so in the General area, and then we direct them here to post a biography of themselves so they won't have to keep repeating their personal details. Then we can come here and check those out for ourselves, you see; saves lots of time. Wow, it sounds like you had a couple of guardian angels with you the day you fell! I know what that's like, I had a sledding accident when I was in my early teens, went off a 17 foot drop and landed on my chin on the shoulder of a highway. By rights, I should have broken my neck or my skull, but instead I broke the point of my jaw in three places, shattered the hinges of my jaw on both sides, and bit through the skin below my bottom lip completely. So I know from guardian angels! : ) The fact that you are now walking again is nothing short of miraculous. Please come to the General board (just click General up near the top of the pale blue area) and post there so everyone can welcome you, ok? Cyndy, co-manager |

Welcome to the group Victoria. Thank-you for posting your bio right away. I'm sorry you have to live with chronic pain, but glad you have joined us. Please feel free to join in any threads, or to start your own. My bio is with the other manager bio's on the right hand side. Hannah |

Hi Victoria: I am so proud of you! You have come a long ways and as a person who spent 8 months in 4 different hospitals before I was released, and having been unable to walk, I know the inner joy of struggling and overcoming obstacles. I am happy every morning to see a sunrise! I wish you the very best of health and happiness! Raymond. |

Hello, Victoria. Welcome to the family. I'm Dan, and interestingly enough, I was left a paraplegic after a benign tumor crushed my spinal cord over the course of several months before it was found and parts of it excised to take the pressure off. I was told I would never walk again. There was too much damage to the spinal cord. After several months of intensive and painful physical therapy I was able to stand on parallel bars with braces, then take a few steps, then walk with crutches and braces, then canes and braces and then came a day when I was able to throw away the braces and the canes and just plane walk. And yes, it was a genuine, absolute, bonefide miracle. So I know what you went through. There are very few of us, you know. In fact, in all the years I've been doing this work with chronic pain, you're the first person who's presented a history similar to mine in terms of learning to walk again despite a severely damaged spinal cord. And I've been doing this for... OMG... Cyndy, how long have I been doing this? LOL (Cyndy will know.) It's been more than 10 years, I know for sure, and maybe more than 15. Anyway, welcome to the family. It's good to have you with us. Healing hugs and lots of love, Dan |
