Sorry to hear you may need the pain pump, Katie. Dan (manager) has one, so does Shadow Dan...and perhaps some others. I know I'm putting having the pump put in off for as long as I can....until I can no longer take the oral meds. I'm on very high doses right now....but, so far, have no real problems taking them....so will put the pump off for now. Good luck if you decide to get the pump. Hugz, Dee |

For me the pump has been a Godsend. It's made life bearable again. I still have to take some narcotics for breakthrough pain at times, but the pump handles 90% of my pain. It has it's problems. Don't let anyone tell you differently. It's got to be changed every few years when the battery wears down. And it has to be refilled every couple of months at least depending on the rate of delivery and the concentration of medication in the pump. Sometimes it must be refilled more often as much as every 3 or 4 weeks. And if it malfunctions, you will go into withdrawal without any warning. That's probably the worst thing about it. But when it is working (and it works 99% of the time) it's great. WWW.Medtronics.com has some more information for you about it. Hugs and lots of love, Dan |
