Well the last week has been hard. My husband has herniated his back some how (dr says he could have just coughed or sneezed and out goes the back). He's in EXTREME pain and has been for 7 days and there seems to be no end at this point. Last time this happened (2 years ago) it took almost 3 months before he was back to his normal again. He can't walk more then about 3 minutes and forget standing.
He went from his fine to this in one night. It's happened to us before but it's scary. Our dr has raised his tramadol intake AND added percocet for this time. He's also on an NSAID called piroxicam (sp?) all just to make him as comfortable as possible. It brings the pain down from a 15/10 to a 10/10.
He's sleeping on a futon on the floor, can't sit on the couch and doesn't do to much outside of the house at this point. AND to top it all off, we both have the flu though this is just adding insult to injury. At this point, the universe smacked us both.
I don't need sympathy, I just needed someplace to say this where people would understand. He's taking care of himself as best he can as am I. I'm trying to work positive energy back into my home but it's hard right now. I'll actually engage in discussions when we're both feeling better. I hope you understand. Thanks.

Hi CJ. I looked about the piroxicam medication you mentioned since your husband is on for pain, I figured I might mentioned to my doctor about the piroxicam, however the meds is used for other medical. Oh well it was worth a try looking up the meds. I hope your husband doesn't suffer long. Take care, CJ {{{{HUGS}}} |

This is the right place. Come and vent all you want. We're here for you. You might coach your husband to try to relax as much as he can when he's in pain. I know it's hard, believe me. I mean, I really do know it's hard. But long, slow deep breaths go a long ways toward causing a person to relax. If he can just do that he'll lower his pain a couple of notches. Hugs and lots of love, Dan |

Sorry I didn't reply sooner, how are you feeling now? Ouch, poor husband. And for the 2 of you to also get the flu, that just plain out sucks. I hope you are both feeling better. You will have more positive energy when you are feeling better I am sure.
