WELL-MEANING BUT STUPID? I TELL MY FRIENDS THAT I HURT SO BAD I CANNOT HOLD THE PHONE. WHAT DO THEY DO? THEY CONSTANTLY CALL TO "CHECK ON ME." WHAT PART OF "I HURT SO BAD I WANT TO CURL UP IN A BALL AND DIE!" DON'T THEY UNDERSTAND?

JUST HOW STUPID CAN PEOPLE GET? NEVER MIND. THEY CONSTANTLY PROVE ME WRONG EVERY TIME! LOL IF THESE ARE MY FRIENDS, I WOULD HATE TO KNOW MY ENEMIES.

SORRY FOR GRIPING, BUT IT'S BEEN ONE OF THOSE DAYS. MAY GOD BLESS YOU ALL. (AT LEAST THIS PUTER DOESN'T RING! LOL)

That ranks right up there with the stupid nurse waking you up in the hospital to give you your sleeping pill.

The difference between genius and stupidity is genius has its limits!

Rest well my friend.  ..and yank that stupid phone out of the wall..

Sorry Cowboy, that you are feeling so bad, at least we can't ring your phone and you can turn us off and get away from us whenever you want to. I can feel for you, I've had the same kkind of week. We were supposed to drive up and see my son and daughter-in-law and our munchkin Katie. We both came down with the flu so can't go. I hurt so bad with the fibro and now this darn sjogrens is about to drive me mad. I stay with sores on my tongue, mouth and nose all the time and I couldn't work up a spit if my life depeneded on it. I never realized how much saliva did before getting this mess. Anyway we are all thinking of you and wishing and praying for some relief for you. hang in there.  lots of love gramanan

If your friends are that concerned about you, Avery, ask them to chip in and get you a programmable answering machine. Then put a message on it with the current state of your health when you feel too bad to talk, something like "I love you all, but I feel too crummy to talk right now; please leave a message and your name, and I'll call you back when I feel more human". Hopefully they'll still care about you even if they can't talk to you RIGHT NOW. Be glad they care enough to call you; lots of us have lost most of our friends since we became too disabled to do much of anything with them anymore.

Cyndy has a good idea. You could change your message even, do a "Daily Cowboy Update".
"Good morning. Today is Friday, the barometric pressure has put me in a world of pain. Do not phone back again today, the ringer hurts my head. You may slide a note under the door, or put in mail box, and you may leave homemade cookies at the door, but for the Love of God, do not ring the doorbell. "
Or something like that.

They care, Avery, remember that.  I know a lot of people who don't have friends that call them anymore and they are very lonely.  So, while I understand that your pain is so bad, you don't want to talk on the phone, be aware that you are 'lucy' that you have friends that DO care!

You could also get a hands free phone....if you DO want to talk, and cannot hold the phone.  I used to be able to put the phone between my head and shoulder and talk for hours....no more!  The hands free only cost about $20...and you can clip it on your belt.

Hope you feel better, Avery!
Hugz,
Dee

Here, being in chronic pain means never having to say you're sorry.    (Paraphrasing Ryan O'Neal from the movie Love Story.)   In other words, gripe away, brother.  That's what we're here for.
