natzo, what happened was while i was at the internists office and asked to view my records, the secretary went and told the doctor i wanted to see them and the doc sent the message back to me, NO, they are HER RECORDS and i can't see them. END OF STORY. i said to the secretary, gee i could have sworn i was protected by law and can see my file when i want to. she said golly gee willikers, i don't know ANYTHING about that!! can you believe it? knowing she was lying, i just remained pleasant....then i called the nystate office of civil rights....and after the doc fired me over the phone, i called her office's nurses' line and left the information i had received...that the doctor had broken both new york state law and federal regulation. and don't you know, later i received a voice message from the same secretary saying "oh gosh, you know i think YOU MAY HAVE MISUNDERSTOOD WHAT I SAID the othe day. ofCOURSE you can see you file...JUST NOT AT THAT TIME because OUR OFFICE IS VERY BUSY and the doctor couldn't have taken the time to assist you with the viewing."
what total GARBAGE. covering their butts is what they are doing. i guess i gave them the upper hand, didn't i? oh well. the other part of her message was that she will send me the form to release my records to ME and then she will do so. too little too late.
do you think i still should pursue action against them? |
