I just read your answer on a thread about dry shampoos and stuff and although I agree, there is another time other than fleas that getting a cat good and wet is good for it! LOL, not that my cats loved me for it, but I think in the end they were grateful, but have you ever seen a cat swim hahhahahaha!
On those dog days of summer when I had a great big tub, I would fill it up with water and let it get just warm enough it wouldn't give a soul a heart attack getting in it! Then I would go around the yard and take those panting kitties one at a time and give them the heave ho right into the center of that big tub! They would swim for a moment and then I would reach in and pluck them out and turn them loose. Well as mean as it would seem, most of them never ran away from me when I got that old tub ready! After a couple of times I think they learned that the water cooled them down and it made them quit panting and laying like they were going to die of heat and humidity!
My neighbors and a few others think I was a nut and some cruel, but to leave an animal to suffer is what is cruel to me. Not all kitties have the advantage of living inside where it's usually cooler. And worse, too many owners don't think of how the heat or the cold affects their animals. I see animals get thin, horribly thin each winter here in my neck of the woods because owners think the rations of food should never change. I only wish they had to eat like the animals do and that they could learn to feel what it's like to be cold and hungry from lack of enough food. But lol, a bit of water never hurt anything that I know of!
