I only found this today so here is my story.

At age 30 my barrel horse threw a shoe going around the first barrel and he slid throwing me partially under him as he fell.  I broke ribs and cracked ribs along with my collar bone. Then 3 days later I suffered from partial paralysis on my right side.  They told me that I might not walk normally.  But I did.

I had uterine cancer in 1994 and they found it in the lymph nodes on one side.  They gave me 2 years at the outside.  It has been 10 years ago and I am cancer free.

From years of my abusing my body physically I have a spine that is at the stage of a much older person and chronic inflamation of the muscles and ligaments in my back.  My left side is my worst.

Then in April I was in a car accident where I flipped the car 3 times ending up on the roof.  All the space that was not crushed was where I was hanging upside down in my seatbelt.  God was with me that day.  No internal injuries-- God was with me.  I do though mess up my shoulder on my left side and both of my wrists were sprained.  I had lots of glass in my face etc. but only scars on my knees.  God was with me.  For over 2 months I could not sleep in a bed and my pain level went to a  9.  With a bit of narcotic pain reliever and other inflamatory meds.  I got slowly better.  I am though left with both wrists are very weak and I swell up really easy.

There is no surgery for my back, shoulder, or wrists.  I have osteoarthritis which causes chronic inflamation.  I live with it.  I have good days and very bad days.  It is unpredictable.  I tire very easily so I have and am still learning my limitations.

I am lucky woman to be alive and I am grateful to God and my family who adjusts parts of their lives for me.

I am married and have 2 wonderful grandchildren -- one son married (father of the grandchildren) and another son who is married with no children(they have their careers).

I live with a pain level of 5-6 everyday and I consider that a good wonderful day.  I seem to go in cycles of pain.

I love animals especially horses and doggies.  I have one 12 year old gelding that right now doc says I can not ride.
My husband is semi-retired.  I also love to raise flowers and to cross pollenate day lillies.  This year I crossed purple cone flower with shasta daisies and have white cone flowers which are much smaller.  I will cross these with the purple cone flower and am looking for a lavender cone f lower.  It is fun to see what happens.

I paint in watercolors and sometimes accrylic.   I play the piano and do cross stitch.

Meg

Welcome to the family Meg.  I'm Dan one of the managers here.  We're a family because we all know what it means to have pain 24/7.

Over on the left there are a lot of links to information on pain and how to deal with it.  If you have any questions, please ask.  We'll try to answer.  There are two or three Megs here now, so we'll try to keep you all seperate.

Healing hugs,

Dan
