bad metaphor? i foolishly tried to save my boat during ant "no-name" storm (100mph winds) of 1993 in Tampa. Started with a pain in my neck which became chronic. my pain was managed by meds prescribed by my next-door neighbor, an orthopod surgeon and friend. did OK until i blew my first lumbar disk in '95, then 2nd disk early '96 (diagnosed degen. disk disease) + upper limb neuropathy from cervical degeneration. progressively gotten worse. now drag rt leg around. due next wk for transforaminal ESI at L2-L3 in attempt to regain use of leg and lower pain. neuropathy continues in many areas. Imaging studies show severe foraminal stenosis in lumbar and cervical spine + generalized stenosis with bony artifacts protruding into spinal canal + spurs that jingle, jangle, jingle along facets, and they call it "arthritis". can no longer use my right hand from joint pains, especially middle finger which locks when i sqeeze and has to be re-extended manually. anyway, i read the thread frequently, participate rarely as i know how little i really understand even my own pain and how to deal with it. As with other chronic pain sufferers, i fight depression and the ideas of ending it all. i fight to get up in the morning and to deal socially with even my own family, including my wife of 46 years.  i do feel great sympathy for other painers and wish i had the physical where-with-all to help them and myself.

It's as good as any metaphor.    I recognize you but I can't call your name.  I know you've posted a couple times before.  I recognize the "Murfisto".

Anyway, welcome to the family.  It looks like you should fit right in.

Over on the left is a lot of information on dealing with Chronic Pain.  Spend some time over there.  If you have any questions, just ask.  That's what we're here for.  Well, it's one of the reasons.  The other is to provide a place for people to vent.  So go right ahead if you ever feel like you need to do that.  Lord knows, I do often enough.  LOL

We all know this story and what a story it is if you let it get to you...you can't thats the thing and I know its hard and I have had my moments believe me... but life goes on and we all take our pills for pain...Please don't ever throw that oar in...I find talking to others really helps even if its not about pain, and I talk to my hunny of 32 years like it doesn't even exist I have to or it would just swollow me up in that gulf of pain and never let me go...try it, keep a smile on your face even if you have to fight it....just do it.
God Bless,
Love shelley

I guess most of us have wanted to throw the oar in and give up, Hell I want to tip the whole darn boat over some days. But I thank the Lord at the end of each day for having helped me make it through another day. We are here for you and we all keep each other in our prayers at night. I thank God for the strength he gives each one of us.  So when you are really down start typing, type like your life depends on it and tell us what is going on and let us know when you hurt. Shed tears with us I know that I shed tears for you and all your suffering. God Bless
