hello everyone my name is Softy i am 38 years old married for 7 years.i was a home care aid for a company in RedDeer Alberta.i was sent into a home to care for an elderly woman that had cancer,None of the equipment that i needed to transport her to each room wasnt ready. So i went to transport her manually the way we were taught. As i was lifting her i felt something rip in my back.i called my supervisor. They refused to release me from this job till they could find me a replacement.Well that took till ten aclock that night.they refused to take me to a hospital.I crawled home on my hands and knees,I went to the clinic the next day.Iwas supposed to be off for three weeks due to my back injury that hadf occured,They called me up the next day and said that if i didnt come back i would be fired even though i took the doctors report to them.i ended up on compensation by doing a claim. They sent me to the mullard in Edmonton Alberta. They gave me 9 weeks of treatment and said there was nothing wrong with me to go back to work.i am still hurting 5 years later .I have been too several specialists and they cant seem to find the problem.I have undergone
several MRI's as well.I am now on a muscle relaxant and noratriptaline as well.I feel alone through this as it frustrates my hubby to see me in this much pain all the time.He continues to support me though bless his heart.I cant find a specialist here in Edmonton who is not for WCB.Can anyone relate to this.

Hi, Softy.  Welcome to the family.  I'm Dan, one of the managers.  I'm glad you found us, though I'm sorry you're in pain and felt like you had to.

Unfortunately your story isn't all that unique.  Many of us have had problems convincting our doctors we're really in pain and need help.  In the US though we can just go to a different doctor until we find one that will help us usually.

Good luck in that, because that's what you need to do.  You need to find another doctor.

I'll keep you in my prayers hon.  Meanwhile, welcome again.

Healing hugs and lots of love,

Dan

Hello Softly.  My name is Debra (aka tomcat) and I'm one of the asst mgrs here.  I wanted to take a moment to welcome you as well.  I am so sorry that you are not receiving the medical treatment that you so much deserve.  I, like Dan, am not familiar with how Canada works their healthcare system.  From what I've picked up from the boards here is that the health care system is a mess.  I hope that you will join us over on the "general" board.  Perhaps someone might see your post and be able to give you some type of assistance.

Again, welcome and be sure to come and join us in the general board and maybe someone can offer you additional info.
tomcat

Welcome softy.
I am in Canada, and usually the treatment and doctors are  wonderful. (Dee,  I have no idea why you think otherwise!)
I am wondering what The Mullard is, I searched the internet and could not find a place by that name in Edmonton? Is that a clinic?
I have family in Edmonton, I can ask about a good back doctor for you.

Ah, I couldn't find it as it is called Millard!

softy, my Edmonton friend and her husband both  had great treatment here. Click the link to get their address and phone number.

She said that Millard place you went to is horrible, it is a WC clinic and she heard they get bonus's for  not recommending further treatments etc.!
