Hi, Robin. Welcome to the family. And we are a family, united by the fact that most all of us have pain 24/7, just like you do. I'm Dan, one of the managers here. And I'm sure serveral of the crew will be by sooner or later to reply to you. You picked a bad time though. This is the 4th of July weekend, as you know. Most everyone is gone for the weekend, or involved with family, or something. Me? I'm staying home here in Texas trying to water the Army Corps of Engineers land that surrounds my house so that if some idiot lets off a firework and starts a fire, it won't burn my house down. I hope. Problem with that is, of course, it requires a lot of walking and pulling hoses. I hurt. Bad. So I'm gonna make this short and come back tomorrow and hopefully be a better helper than now. You can read my bio over on the left. In fact, there's a LOT Of information over there. Take some time and browse through it. Then let us know if you have any questions, OK? Welcome again. Lots of love and healing hugs, Dan PS. Could you please use a larger font for those of us with bad eyes? A size 4 or 5 is good. Thanks. |

Welcome to the family. I'm Thrashed Arms And Hands - resident biker and fellow pain person. The reason you're here is awful. I don't wish this kind of grief on anyone. - BUT - You've found quite a bunch of good folks here. These people know and understand what it's like to live your days in incriments of hours, minutes or seconds. You'll find broad shoulders here to cry on, sympathetic and empathetic ears to hear you when you need to vent, lots of supporting hugs and a bunch of goofs who will yuck it up with you on the better days. Come on in, open the cupboard doors, rummage through the drawers, and make yourself at home. Thrashed |

Hi...I'm Dee, aka "NatzoSwift". Just wanted to let you know that I read your bio..and am so sorry for all you have gone through. I know it's frustrating to go through surgery and then, four months later, have pain all over again!!! I have had 9 lumbar surgeries and don't plan on having anymore...ever!! But, who knows what will happen in the future...my last back surgery was over 20 years ago...so, back in the "dark ages", before they did instrumentation. They just used my own bone to fuse the levels...and it kept going up the spine. I'm sorry you are not getting much help from any doctors. I really think that pain management is your best bet right now...but you might want to find another pain doc to go to...since the one you saw did not help you much. Sometimes you have to "shop around" for a good one...sometimes it takes a few before you find "Dr. Right". So, don't give up...keep looking...even though I know it's frustrating. I never found much help with neurologists though. I did go to one for something else...and she is very unhappy about the amount of pain meds I am taking right now...from my PM doc. She thinks that if I have major surgery I will not be able to get ahead of my pain. But I've had total knee replacement, shoulder surgery, and a few others on this dose of narcotics, and did fine with it..and the medications. So I told the neurologist that is the reason I don't go to see her for my pain meds...lol. My PM doc is the greatest!!!! Hope you can find one as good as he is!!! Hang in there...and hope you can find some relief soon...or get an answer as to what they can do. I had Radio Frequency done, too...which helped somewhat with the pain in the nerves. That might be a suggestion for you to ask the neurologist. I also had nucleoplasty done for 1 herniated disc...I have 3 others though in the lumbar area now. I know I will always have pain...but, as long as I can get some relief from it, I'm fine with it. I can't do the things I want to though; but I can do some things...although I do "pay for them" afterwards. But it's better than not getting any relief. Take care...and if I or anyone else can help you...please let us know!! NatzoSwift |

Hi Robin, Welcome to our group. I'm Debra, aka "tomcat" and I'm one of the asst co-mgrs here. I have chronic pain resultant from repetitive stress injuries. I previously did medical transcription and orthopedic office management. I am currently "maintained" (if that's what you call it) on pain meds. I am very thankful to have a doctor willing to treat me with pain meds. Sorry to see that you've had such a hard time with your back problems. I hope that thinks get better for you real soon. Please keep coming back as you feel you need us. We are always around here in and out, but someone is always around practically. Best wishes to you. tomcat |
