I take actiq for breakthrough pain.  I happen to like it as it does the job and then some.  Being on a pump, getting it filled once a month is ok but need something for breakthrough.  Been on Actiq for a while now.  It also helps with other pains that I have as in cellulitis.  One MUST be careful though as it CAN mask other issues.  I have heart condition and I will not take it for that.  Check with your DR about actiq if you are interested.  One thing I must make clear....IT IS VERY ADDICTION!  When I run out as I sometimes do, you will get the dts!  SO BE CAREFUL.
Angel

I would like to know if anyone who has severe back probs like no disk @ L5-S1  ( 35yr old female getting spinal stonosis and already have DDD, and no medical ins to have any pain meds) anyway I am scared to have surgery and I would rather have a pain pump installed.  I have a high tolerance to pain meds and do no like taking all the pills.  My hair has fallen out and several other things.  right now I do not have insurance and do not have access to any pain meds only what I can get from friends of mine.  I am qualify and I am trying to get my disability they say (SSI) should get $1,441.00 a month  but for now I am just needing advice.......thanks  Kelli

I have tried to get actiq and my insurance denied me saying it is only for cancer patients. I told them i know people that are on it who are not cancer patients so why are they getting it. I fought with them to try to get it and i am now waiting for the results, we will see what will happen when there answer comes.

Shirley it is also for intractable pain,  Remember the definition and present it to the insurance company.
