My theory of war...

Give the leaders the guns.  Put them both in some forest somewhere with a pocket full of bullets.

In the case of Iraq, W and Saddam each get one gun and a pocketfull of bullets in some forrest somewhere.

The man that walks out wins.  Then they can implement whatever policy they want.

This way we save all the infrastructure destruction, all the young people being killed, and all the waste.  PLUS I have this hunch, that if Mr. Bush or ANY leader for that matter, knew it was HIS or HER butt on the line, and gonna be shot at, that a diplomatic solution might be found to these problems between states.

This thing of old men sending young men off to die, is just nuts.  Where did we dream this up?  And why, oh why, did we young men ever agree to it?  It's just the craziest thing I ever heard of, when you look at it like that.  So where did it come from and why do we do it?  LOLOL

I would say the same thing if the president were Democratic and started a war, by the way.  Doesn't matter the party, it's the fact they it's never THEM who's actually in harm's way.  AND in fact, if you want to look it, go to each and ever Senator and Congressman's web site, and see how many of them are telling us they have a son or daughter over in Irag being shot at.

Don't bother, I can tell you.  According to what research I've been able to do, it's less than 10%.  Oh they talk big.  But when it comes to action, it's a different story.

Also, almost none of the neo-conservative leaders who are so hawkish have ever worn the uniform of a branch of any of the armed services.  Paul Wolfowitz... Nope.  Karl Rove... Nope.  Irv Chenay... nope.  It goes on and on.  W. himself of course was an allegedly AWOL AF Reservist so he wouldn't have to go to the war in Viet Nam, and the one person who does have a respectable history as a fine officer, the current Secretary of State, Collin Powel, is not a neo-conservative himself, but rather an old line conservative from the Regean tradition.  AND he was NOT hawkish in this invasion of Iraq, though he tries to toe the line as a good soldier should.

OK enough ranting.  I think you get the point.  Those who love war, never fought in one.  Those who know what a horrible, terrible waste and what a frightening and gut wrencing experience it is, know it should be something that's an absolute last resort.

And when we do go to war, we should do it, get in, get the job done and get out.  Our army isn't trained, nor is it's mission nation building.  It's mission has always been, and it's trained for fighting and taking territory.  But that's another rant.

Dan

Hmmmm.  Well, a video game would be OK.  But the thing is, they wouldn't really have that much at stake in a video game.  Nope.  I want George W. Bush to be shot at.  Yup.

If he wants to go to war, I want him to think long and hard about it, because it's HIS butt on the line.  It's HIS body that could be torn apart by a bullet or a bomb.  It's HIS early grave that might be filled. Yup, I think that's the way I would want it.

The reason for that is this.  I believe that's the only way he, or any politician, other than those who have alrready served in combat, to really think about what they are doing when they contemplate war.

It's easy to send other men off to die.  It must be.  Old men have been doing that for hundreds of years.

It's not so easy to face those bullets yourself, I think.  You knwo what I mean, Tom.

I know what you mean, Tom.

Believe me, the vets I know who have seen combat know that the guys and gals over there right now, and in Afghanastan (remember Afghanastan?) are doing a tough job and doing the best they can in rough circumstances.  We all support the troops.

We're questioning the guys in the suits though.  Big time.  What the heck do they think they're doing?

The Director of the CIA resigned today.  Rumsfeldt needs to go next.  And I had to delete a whole bunch of stuff right there.  LOL I'm just too polorized even for me sometimes.  ROFL

I still like Powell.  He's a good soldier and has toed the party line for Bush.  I think he's a good man though and if he were president I think the country would be in a lot better shape  than it is today.  For one thing, he's heads above the intelectual level of Bush.  Oh he would deny it, but anyone with half a brain can see that he's a lot smarter than the president.  LOL

Well, I better stop here before I get carried away again.  I would love to see all those Neo-Con's carried away.  Paul Wolfowitz first.

Go to Iraq Paul and pick up an M-16 and make some patrols in Faluga.  See what the war is really about.  Bah, he would wet his pants inside of 10 minutes.  LOL  You got to love these hawkish Neo-conservatives, Tom.  Not a one of them has ever worn a uniform.  You could get rich cleaning the trousers of these guys if anyone ever shot at them.  Buncha pansy REMF's.

I hear ya, bro.  The fat cats get fatter, and the guys get the shaft.  I just heard that despite the recommendatoins that no one  be deployed more than 6 to 8 months, that "Stop Loss" orders have been issued and the guys and gals have been extended up to 18 months total deployment.

That's pretty hard on a person to be in a combat zone that long.
