A letter to the DWCP group

Friends,
I write this letter to you all in response to replies sent my way concerning a topic I feel is very important. This topic is my neighborhood watch; specifically my participation in it. The community I live in is a rare one indeed. My neighbors have treated my family and myself with affection and friendship the likes of which I’ve never had before in my life. I feel I have fast and loyal friends here. People I truly give a damn about. There is a problem with increasing crime. The Police are ineffective at best and apathetic at worst. They are basically useless. That leaves my neighbors and me ripe for the picking right?
NOT AS LONG AS I DRAW AIR AND CAN DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT!
Understand I am a man of peace. I am a man of morals. I am a man of responsibility and I do my best to be a law-abiding citizen. I do not condone wanton violence. That being said, I refuse to be intimidated by those who would do me harm or hurt what is most precious to me. I will not cower before these villains nor will I stand idly by while they do their deeds. I have found a group of like minded men and an increasing number of like minded women who have had a gut full of being victimized by the criminals then ignored by the city authorities and are now ready willing and able to take an aggressive proactive stance. The only way the bad guys can come in here and take over is if we let them! As long as I can walk under my own power I will be out on the streets patrolling and hunting. I refuse to roll over and submit to the powers of the criminal element. Fears of revenge or retaliation from the thugs rise on a regular basis from those who lack spines to deal with their problems. They (the criminals) did the original ill deeds! I respect an individuals right to stay out of a fight. But it pains me to see people whine and bawl about a bad situation then do nothing to change it. People who have fears and reservations need not go out in the street and encounter the ne’er do wells; these people can sit in their front rooms armed with radios and call when they see something out of place. They can man cell phones to call 911 when needed. They can write license plate numbers of cars that appear suspicious or simply get to know their neighbors ?see who belongs there and who does not. Doing nothing will result in the situation getting worse and the bad guys assured victory. I will not move. I will not submit. I will not quit. As I sated before I am a man of peace but I am capable of violence when needed. I believe in an armed society where people take on their own stewardship over their own communities and I most certainly believe in my heart of hearts that if people would just stand up and reclaim their streets then the good old days of being able to walk around after dark with no fear could return. I would dare a dream of a safe and peaceful community. And if the road to that dream is some thugs and criminals getting their heads cracked then so be it. Of this position I am steadfast and immovable. My resolve is as iron as my fists (and yes, they are still most dangerous, make no mistake there)! I ask that you respect my right and obligation to protect what I hold dear and withhold any biting or hurtful comments directed toward me. I most certainly respect your right to your own beliefs and perspective.

Respectfully,
Adam Jeppson
