My son called me after an overnighter in the ER. His son, Ryan has been a sick little fella and then his ankle got really sore and felt warm to the touch. After a series of tests, the doctors have called it osteomyelitis (which simply put means a bone infection). I am not aware of any wound or trauma he has sufferred but the internet says that it is caused from a bacterial infection which probably originated elsewhere in the body and settled into the bone. It is treated by a week in the hospital of IV antibiotics and followed by 6 weeks of oral at home. From what I can find out, it settles into an area of bone and can deteriorate the bone to the point of needing bone grafts, or even amputation in severe cases. He is only turning one on Nov. 7th. Please keep him in your prayers as the types of bacteria I have read that causes this can be staph, strep, or e-coli.....of course amoung others. I don't want to panic here, but if he is being treated with that amount of antibiotics, I know it must be something difficult to treat. I appreciate each one of you and know that this group comes together when there is a need and can call on our Lord in unision, then sit back and gather fruits or their prayer requests. Thanking you in advance as I know you will be there. |

Venita when I got your email a few minutes ago I can't tell you what a sign of relief I had. Thank God his recovery is going to come quicker. Just breaks your heart to see him in that hospital bed but hopefully he will be home soon. And I know in the mean time GrannyMaw will make sure he is is well cared for. Big Hugs for you Sweetie, what a day yesterday was. Susie |

Well he's related to you. I figured he'd look something like that when he woke up. Neither one of you take this stuff lying down.
But that fighting spirit is what will keep you guys going. Give him a kiss (if you can) for us.
Poor guy. What miserable way to spend a week!

Poor little guy. It just breaks my heart when little kids are so sick that they have to be hospitalized. It's so traumatic for them. Best wishes for a quick and complete recovery for your dear grandson. Peg2 |

He is doing much better. Only one little scare and that was over his pickline. When the home health nurse came by, they could not get it to flush right so he had to go back to the ER and get the blood clot dissolved. They actually went to church with me Sunday! Now if I can just get them back again....that will be a feat in itself! It was kid's day and the whole service was done by youth and the youth minister. They did a puppet show and had balloons all over. Really cute and effective. Theme was leading by example. We will know more about Ryanblayse when he goes back to the doctor. Not sure when that is set up, but I am sure they will be on top of things. Keep those prayers comin' cuz they are WORKIN"!!!!! Thank you all! |
