BONDING WITH YOUR DECK
The process of getting acquainted and creating a special bond with your cards involves taking the time to get familiar with the pictures in your new deck, and handling (shuffling, touching and examining) the cards. Spread your cards out and begin looking at them one by one. As you look at each card notice the feeling you get from the card and the thoughts which come to mind. Your personal thoughts and feelings about a card should always be the root from which you interpret the card.
Now write down any thoughts you have, and then compare your initial reactions to the standard interpretations given for the card. You should find several points of reference and comparison.
This method builds your awareness of how much you already understand. This is bound to be good for your confidence, and will encourage you to trust your intuition more
It also helps to place the cards under your pillow while you sleep. This is a very effective way to begin connecting with the cards and filling them with your energy. Sleep with the cards under your pillow for four nights in a row. If that is not possible place the cards with some very personal possessions near your bed (or under it) for the same amount of time. Sleeping with the cards under your pillow also gives your subconscious mind the opportunity to become "in tune" with the cards, their images and symbolism.
Lookin After Your Cards...
I t is recommended (not required) that your cards should always be wrapped in a pure natural silk scarf - black is the colour usually recommended.because its impenetrable color is believed to keep out unwanted vibratory influences. However, I believe that if you use a color that you prefer it can help attune your cards to your personal energy patterns and other psychic needs. So this is a judgement call for you....whatever makes you feel more in tune with the cards.
However, I do believe in keeping my cards wrapped or boxed when not in use. Practically, it keeps them all together, and protects them from spills and other damage. Spiritually, over a period of time your deck will acquire a level of innate energy - this is why new decks can often feel 'cold' ...at that stage they are. Wrapping them and treating them with respect at all times helps to maintain that level of energy.
Store your deck with protective and grounding stones and with clear quartz crystals .Wash your stones in sea salt water once a month. Also before you use the deck for the first time place it in the window sill on the night of a full moon and allow the light of the full moon to cleanse your deck, do this every time there is a full moon as well. This will make a HUGE difference in your readings.
Do not leave your deck out where just anyone can handle it.
