This is not what I could imagine before I went to have my surgery. When I returned home after ten days only my little girl Thabita was very sick. I took her to our vet on Monday this week as I wanted a check on her condition. I believed she had a constitution which I treated.
The vet examined her carefully telling me her stomach was tense because of water in it. It's never a good sign. He had a blood panel on her, ex ray and a test of the water. He came back telling me the diagnose, FIP. I was so shocked, first I refused to believe it was such a serious thing with no cure. He suggested to let her be put into sleep. I still wanted to take her home and take care of her as long it was possible but he told me it was too late as she really suffered a lot and there was no hope with FIP.
I crying my eyes out since that day. This was absolutely unexpected. She always has been so strong and healthy with a big appetite doing the most funny and odd kitty tricks. The biggest mystery is how she could become infected as she and her brother never were outdoors. The progress was so quick. Now I am scared that Sluggo could get sick too. I cry a lot when in bed holding him tight in my arms . How is it possible to protect your cats from this awful FIP?
