the wintry walkway down the bend
sometimes would seem to never end
especiallyduring the night
when all was quiet without light
none would venture there past dusk
though some would claim to hear a bus
parking there and staying on
til the mark of early sun
was said that once upon a time
a school was there, near a wood of pine
a special school for genius tykes
the kind that never ride a bike
the kind that never go outside
instead they'd always stay inside
one day just before it's end
a single scream would just portend
the explosion, all were lost
no need to venture bout the cost
business moved, time flowed forth
the district grew dark, now seemed cursed
the school never rebuilt was left to rot
like a living stain that time forgot
sometimes someone would hear crying
the kind one hears when one is dying
but no one ventures out that way
not at night, and not at day
on the other side of town rumours spread
made the Enquirer, so it's said
bout a part of the town that no one will see
where the dead eat the living, the living let be
some kids at a high school thought of a prank
to make on their classmates, though it stank
to invite everyone on Halloween night
for a night of partying, maybe of fright
they thought they'd go early to set the stage
when they didn't come back, it only seemed strange
most of the high school turned out that night
wasn't til dawn, that the town saw the fright
it was said one survived, lives in a bin
looney that is, talking bout sin
bout the dead coming back, killing to eat
how he watched as a classmate consumed his own feet
the authorities tried to hush it up, though the parents raised a stink
the newspapers ran papers til they ran out of ink
then it grew quiet, people moved away
the town became legend for what happened that day
even now it's been said, the young want to see
never realizing til too late, one should just let things be
I heard on the news, your school's bout to go
on a Halloween excursion, didn't you know
to a town off the map, for a night of pure fun
better bring your track shoes, cuz your sure to run
from the Dread........
