Dorothy Clutterbuck 1880-1951 Dorothy's cottage in the New Forest, where Gerald Gardner was initiated   Dorothy Clutterbuck was a witch who lived in the New Forest region of England, she was often referred to as "Old Dorothy".Dorothy is the witch who reportedly initiated Gerald Gardner into Wicca in September 1939.He met her through an association with the "Fellowship of Crotona", which was a front for her coven in the New Forest. Many modern skeptics believed that Gardner invented Dorothy and that he invented the religion of Wicca.In 1982 Doreen Valiente was able to prove through birth and death records, that she was a real person.There are no photo's of Dorothy, but above is the cottage where she lived in the New Forest.
