I JUST CAN'T STAND IT WHEN I GO TO A NEW CLASS OR SHOW AND THE TRAINING IS MOSTLY IN PRODUCT KNOWLEDGE OR THEY REALLY DON'T TEACH YOU SOMETHING YOU CAN TAKE BACK TO THE SALON, IT'S ALL RUNWAY , FASHION SHOW STUFF. I RECENTLY WENT TO AN UPDO CLASS BY MATRIX. ALMOST THE WHOLE CLASS WAS PRODUCT KNOWLEDGE, WE ONLY ENDED UP DOING ONE UPDO. IT WAS VERY DISAPPOINTING. UPDO'S ARE ONE OF MY SPECIALTIES, I'M THINKING ABOUT TEACHING A CLASS MYSELF, MAKING UP A FLYER AND TAKING ONE TO EACH SALON IN MY AREA AND PUTTING THE COST AT ABOUT $40. DO YOU THINK I WOULD GET A GOOD TURN OUT? TELL ME WHAT YOU THINK AND IF YOU HAVE ANY IDEAS ATTRACTING OTHER STYLIST TO COME TO MY CLASS. ANY HELP WOULD BE GREAT . |

In my experience with company trainers, is that they do tend to promote their products instead of focusing of technique. But, that is really the purpose of the class, to promote their product. A big company like Matrix, I'm not surprised. I do think it's a good idea for you to teach your own class. It would be an even better idea if you were to hold the class in different salons rather than your own or wherever you were planning on holding it. Handing out flyers is a great idea, so is going to the salons themselves and talking to the owners. You can even put out ads on the internet on local advertising websites with your contact information. This would be a great second career for you. The cost could even be $50! Just my opinion, this could also be discussed with the owners, most color classes cost that much when held in a salon in my area. Even beauty schools would be a great idea. I doubt the chains or companies would be interested, they have contracts with the bigger product companies. Private salons would be better. Don't be discouraged if at first you don't get any responses. Push on, and and be persistant! Eventually you would have your voice out there so much, that they would have no choice but to want check out the situation. Good luck! |

i haven't been able to yet. in fact we were just transfered to pensacola fl. for 6 months,( my husband is an usmc officer) so because we'll be here for such a short time i won't be getting my license here. but i have decided to do some braiding class for some women here on the base. i still want to checkout doing some updo classes for some salons here, i just don't know how they would respond since i don't have a fl. license. i'll have to check-in to it. i'm also going to try to do some fasion shows while i'm here. i love to get new photos for my portfolio. |
