Dream of the Knight Twas the trusted one that upon dawn shivers Cold sweat brow wept clasps cold steel Silver blade of night Is it you fair one or a phantom come? A Knight cries aloud Canst it be a dream thinks he or a shadow crossing covers thee? The Lady of mystery shalt be his undoing Wilt thou suffer me Ye trusted servant. No trust ye give to me Fair Lady of misty dreams leads thee to thy fog Searching whilst alone. left thou thy trust? A Knight cries out Fair and Beauty knows not my pain in mine heart of wanderings Shalt love beckon thee? Lady be thee there I fear I lack courage to guard castle moat My steed senses ghosts I flee in quickened pulse Knight awakens in dusk beckons thou entrance into mine own dream I reached out. Lady was not there nor when midnight falls nor be she at sunrise I shalt not reach those distant shores. Twas the trusted one who grasped this steel sword of silver night? A Knight shalt shiver A dream betrayed A Knight dreams covered by the peat Copyright © CJ Clark |
