I liked this Dale, reminded me of old westerns I've watched.  I could hear the theme song from "The Good, the Bad and the Ugly" playing as I read this! *S*  Interesting how you did it a bit different, more like a poem the old man was saying this time, rather then a short story.  Squinting into the sunset as I picture this bold chase across the hills and DALES of the border country!  LOL
