Every Excuse
I said it and at and wondered where was that
I said if and but seeing I was in a rut
I stumbled and mumbled trying to be dignified I jingled and jangled I got no dough just spurs to roll
I finally stood up straight saying where's the dead freight
I begin to strut my boots were scuffed but I was rough steel toes kicked up some shit
I got a horse of course
He had a serious gait but never went straight so I gave him a kick rolled my spurs on his ass
I got bucked off soared aloft
When I landed the stars did spin damned old horse ran off with my grub I was wearin thin
I was born skinny I heard a whinny
Now please excuse me but I got to be free just like that old nag I try and ride he can't deny
even though he used every excuse
