Golden Harp
an angel flew into the cosmos the ever flowing river of stars she gently plied the strings on her golden harp, hands of silk lovingly fingering a melody only heard by the breeze
like a something in the air whispers your name
the silvery pregnant moon shines searching for lovers lane now covered in vine but she had a silver spoon just for a sip of wine a scarlet drop of rain the stars covered her flowing down to her cries
the wind blows the melody into the trees
swaying in the breeze dancing to her beat whispering in his ear the bugler boy plays a prowler comes up the highway enjoying the dark
the moon shined through she was now silvery crescent funny how grandfather time keeps the beat in his creaking rocking chair you were there I tapped my foot thinking something new
the dream of the spoon enjoy the pudding before supper time sipping tea my glasses fogged a drip fell from my chin I couldn't see lovers lane the scarlet rain came in waves
the cemetery gates locked tombstones spoke too loud
the sliver of a moon slipped through the angel stroked her harp to soothe lost lovers they couldn't roost the prowler searched for darkness
you dreamed it all singing along
he rode the roaring machine down the two lane when the wheel locked he flipped over the top she whispered his name playing her songs into his ear
the moon now half full had lit the hallway as half awake I walked and whistled into this illusion, this dream of an angel and her golden harp
