Two Vagabonds
We are the wanderers
We travel through dimensions
Walk light on the earth
with heavy hearts
Breathe stardust through our eyes
When we were young
the earth was our quiet mother
We would gaze sadly at the stars
and wonder from where we came
For here we are strangers
and bleed in the crowd
The moon knows our name
She pulls us like the tides
injecting mysteries in our veins
heady fragrant music
whispers in ancient language
lost echoes in the hills
Our shadow chases us
when we try to set down
or drown in love
Thinking ourselves fools, we surface for air
needing oxygen to save our souls
But for one sweet moment
we breathe through each other's mouth
become one
find a home safe and warm in a dream
that fades apon awakening
Our flesh is a shell
that when broken tears us apart
We curse the dust on our feet
in sobs that can find no comfort
for the path drives us on
We met at the crossroads
that place between heaven and earth
Hot at the equator
We saw both the sun and the moon
rising and falling in the sky
Now we are balanced at two poles
still in spin, twirling on the axis
Gravity holds us here
and the love, sweet eternity
that propells us through time
