First the Good news | | News Desk Norton Comes Home!!! 10/16/2008 After nearly fifteen years of US ownership, Norton, the quintessential and most famous of British motorcycle brands returns home.
As a result of prolonged negotiations and a multi-million pound deal we can announce that the Norton motorcycle brand is, at last, back in caring British hands.
Stuart Garner a UK based businessman and owner of Norton Racing Ltd has bought back all the trademarks and development work relating to the Norton, Manx, Atlas, Commando and Dominator brands.
Norton Racing Ltd is already in development of a new rotary engined race bike and now with the ownership of the brand itself plans are being developed to introduce a new road bike for 2009.
‘This has been a challenging and exciting period for us?Commented Garner ‘We are proud to have brought the brands back home and we now intend to focus on re-establishing Norton as a premier motorcycling brand across the World?he added.
In the early nineties the brands were bought by Norton Motorcycles Inc in the USA with the view of developing a new Commando road bike for the US market. Nearly $10 million was spent on IP, design and development, and this development work has formed part of the new deal. The investment can now be brought to bear on the new global project for the Norton Commando 961. We'll delve back in history now......

So I see. According to your logic you'd throw the Commando away and keep the carbs. |

One thing I like very much about the W650 above is the crankcase casting. |

Flash, yeah that's right. Keep the carbs & throw the rest away. Apparently reading comprehension was not your strong suit in law skool. Maybe there was too much of it when trying to pass the bar eh? T-Dog |

You are talking 410lbs of jeans creaming motorcycle here and all you comment on is the carburation. Surely I read that right? Now, to race those carbs, some people might want a frame and wheels.......... Whatever happened to motorcycle fuel injection? I know turbo-charging was reckoned as not worth it, back in the '70s. New thread for this i reckon. |

My Goldwing & most of the new bigger cc models all have F.I. Question: "would you buy a new car without F.I.? Same answer should pertain to motorcylces. Re: the new Norton, I don't think it will make it, like the Indian. T-Dog |

We won't know for a year, and there is a recession now. They are asking £6,600 which is on a par with a few retro bikes Worth considering: Kawasaki W650, £5,180. BMW R850R, £6,195, Ducati M750 Monster, £5,700. Moto Guzzi V11 Sport, £7,299 |

Flash, mine is the middle model with heated seats, grips & a GPS system & goes for $22,000 yankee. The top of the line model has all of that plus ABS brakes & an air bag. OMG an air bag!!!. T-Dog |

Your cheapo is £ 14,726. I can get a Mondeo diesel estate rating 7/10 for £14,002. Your air bag, does it resemble the one on the right or the Everard on the left? |

If a bike doesn't have clip-ons, screams its head off, has brakes and a gear-change placed behind your arse, twitches and is as eratic and unpredictable as a women, it's not a real bike. |

Flash, I have Helga the Swedish love doll in stock with 3 entrances of love & she is a frequent passenger on the Wing. Indian was revived about 10 years ago by a California firm. Retro look with HD engines like Buell. Failed after about 5 years, & this is the second attempt this time with their own engines. T-Dog |

I once went into a sex shop and asked for a doll. The man behind the counter said... we only have black ones left.... no problem I said, I'm not prejudiced, I'll take one. I took it home and it mugged me. |

These engines are push rod and with 1600 and 1700 must be very long stroke. I think Buell is getting a following in the UK |
