"I remember when he was about 3, only a toddler. He was out in the back garden. He went over to a flower with a bee. He put it on his finger, lifted the bee up, talked to the bee, and put it back again. He probably doesn't remember it, I don't think I ever mentioned it, but I can remember to this day the horror of my wife and myself. He could go from flower to flower picking up bees and never got stung. Amazing, isn't it?" - Bob Hewson

Do you think Bono was always "special" or destined to be great?

That story was told by Bono's dad while talking with Bill Flannagan, the author of "U2 At The End Of The World" also known by many U2 fanatics as the U2 bible.

He also told another story, about Bono's mom before they had their children (Bono and his older brother Norman).  The family had use of a vacation cottage.  At one point Bono's mom and an aunt went to a fortune teller who told his mom that she would have two sons.  One would have a name that began with a P.  That son would be very successful in life.

Bono mentioned once that at age 13 he had a dream where he was standing on a stage in front of thousands of people.  He had no idea what it was he was doing, but the people were all paying attention to HIM.  Guess he now knows what he was doing on that stage huh?

The question was,
Do you think Bono was always "special" or destined to be great?
My answer, I do believe that he is, if you believe in that sort of thing.

I think he was. I think if he wasn't in a band and able to use that to help others, he would have found another way to do the great things that he's been doing for some many years.
