Turbo,
had his first taste of wild life the other day..
Somewhere in  their kennel, lies a mole nest.

When I went in to visit them, I found moles scattered along the kennel runs.
Myu guess is ThaLaw and Koji  went on a killing spree.i found 4.

They just left them. Well,

My pups after being let out the next morning, found them.

I was picking them up as I found them..

Turbo found one and made me chase him all over the kennel. I finally got close to him and with one big gulp, he swallowed it before I could get it...LOL

It was comical. its like he was not going to let me get it from him..No bites, no chews, just a BIG GULP.

It took Ginger 3 years to kill 1, here. They are too slow. She flings them in the air and waits for them to run - Huh? One bounced off the lawn mower and when it came too, shook and waddled away. She was looing everywhere but around the mower. She finally learned to watch carefully to find them after they landed. That's TRD - small prey driven - when they don't run they are safe! Now the rabbits, if they don't forget where they came thru the fence are too fast except for babies. It's the possums that impress with their teeth.
Maybe James, you need to feed Turbo a different food? Ginger has NEVER eaten what she kills. She'll try to get it to move but dead is dead.

Hi Jo-Ann,

what do you suggest by changing food? putting him on raw?

I do supplmenet with meats and vitamins..  right now i feed them all Diamond Chicken and rice... a  very good food and its cheap.. only 3o bucks for 40lbs and all natural.. not the best food in the world, but defnitely a good one.  i was so pleased when i discovered it.. there is anohter food called Blue seal that is also all naturaql and is cheap as well..

feeding  8 dogs, one has to look for some kind of bargain.

Dear James,
I was only kidding. Eating a mole is disgusting! If it was a "spoiled dog temper trantrum" I would think you won! Moles eat grass roots and junk - I'm not sure if they eat worms or just vegetation. Really never had a dog eat what it killed but they've all been well fed. Maybe grass or green veggies - Cat Grass is now for dogs and minus critter. I believe rye or wheat grass in little pot for indoor animals.
Food is expensive period and fishing licsenses (sp) have gone up too!
Jo-Ann

about fishing licences and food....;-)
my boy caught an huge salmon (12,5 kilos) in Gaula fjord, Norway a few days ago. Do you think I can feed the dog raw salmon from the parts we humans dont eat? raw salmon head etc, we put the fish in the freezer until then.
I want to give the dogs more raw food, but I am unshure what to give them.
(Not moles! // btw mole=mullvad= means spy in Swedish ;-))

Dear Tina,
We have tried raw fish - not guts - but with little sucess. Our Elkhounds liked deer legs with hoofs attached. Ginger won't eat raw period!
They feed raw fish in Alaska. We skin our fish because the scales go everywhere. Fish oil is good, so you might try heads, the bones worry me but dogs are supposed to be different. Cooked leftovers are even cause for indigestion in Ginger. I'm the one that has to administer Pepcid AC for gas. Vet recommended that for medicine gas.
All I can say is try and see if they will eat it.
Hunters feed livers and hearts of game to their dogs as incentive.
Maybe the critters are called Voles in Sweden?

Meeko did the same thing last spring with a baby rabbit.  When I finally caught up with him he swallowed the baby bunny in on big gulp, like Silvester the cat.

Moles also like to eat grubs, they tunnel into my lawn where the grubs are and feast away. but Meeko eventually catches them.

Moles and Voles are two different vermon, but similar looking except for the paws/feet.  Moles have big webbed front feet with huge claws for digging and I am pretty sure they are blind.

Tina, REALLY? My dogs only smell others shit. I must have/had special dogs.
Since they use their tongues for tp, I guess they have eaten theirs, UGH!!!!
Using the grass or my carpet, I yell when it is the carpet.

If feeding raw freaks you why do it?

Yep, unfortunately still single, or maybe thats a good thing, but I do know that I really enjoy being a bachelor.  I'm sure I'll settle down with the right girl one day.

Octane joins the ranks  as  a "Mole eater"

Turbo found another one and chewed it up and played for a while, but I guess he decided after his last feast that he didnt like them.
Octane gladly took it over and ate it for him..

I figured"why not?" let them be raw dogs..if they want to eat prey, why not  let them?
