Dear Managers and Members, MSN groups may be moving to a different server in the very near future as confirmed by MSN through Community Feedback. Watch the MSN Groups home page, our General Message Board, Community Feedback, for further announcements and check out this message thread now at Community Feedback for information. Mimi |

My understanding is that if Multiply. com takes over the managers of each group will have to immigrate their groups to their host site if they choose to do so, members would not be migrated along and would have join the new group. Of course, it has not been confirmed that multiply.com will be taking over groups. |

Apparently, MSN has confirmed that MSN groups will be closing effective in Feb. 2009. Please go to the thread in the original post above and to to message #134.
Managers, I suggest you check out another thread on CF about alternative free hosts. |

Received this message from another board. But until our managers get actually confirmation, we treat it as rumor. Although in this instance we believe it to be true. We just don't know how to handle it as yet. I will discuss this with Allison. Ok, a few websites are saying: It has been confirmed by TechCrunch.com yesterday that the MSN Groups service will cease to operate as part of Microsoft on 21 FEB 2009. Prior to this confirmation, various mailing lists and forums had been discussing the rumor that circulated about the closure of MSN Groups either by end of this year or early next year. A similar confirmation has been released by Charlotte Jones, Group Product Manager at Microsoft. Apparently, the reason for the closure of MSN Groups is attributed to the launch of Microsoft Windows Live Groups in November 2008, and Microsoft do not want to have two “competing products?inside their fence. The good news is that the operations of MSN Groups has been turned-over to Multiply.com, an emerging name in social networking, especially here in the Philippines (next to Friendster). |

Don't worry. If we have to move, we'll move. We can handle it. It will be fine. We will work it out. |

It is not a rumor but fact. CF confirmed it last week by replies from MSN Groups Support to emails they sent asking if the rumors were true. You really need to read the CF thread. Multiply.com has already confirmed it. |

Proud MiMi, I was trying to keep some control on the group so that they wouldn't panic until Allison figured out what we have to do. At this time, she has said, as noted above, "If we have to move, we'll move. We can handle it. It will be fine. We will work it out". Please don't panic! Everything will be fine. It will probably be a very easy transition. Allison is an intelligent person and educated in computers and if she says it will be fine, then it will be. |

I'm looking into all the options and when the time comes to make the switch, we will make it and we will be fine. I have also spent this entire week reading the threads to get info. No stress!! ~Allison |

MSN has started putting a groups closer message at the top of most pages in some of the msn groups, just above the group name on the left. Not all areas are having this yet as msn has many servers worldwide. Guess you could say....it is now official. |
