What is everyone's take on yesterday's visit from them to Carly and asking to take a mortgage on the house?  Did Janet and Jack have some nerve?  Or does someone agree that Jack and Janet need their own home with a "wood burning fireplace"?
Personally, I think Janet is a leech!  Next thing you know they'll be kicking Carly out of her house and taking it over with the kids!
Come on everyone.  Let's chat.  Holidays are over and there's been no chatting on the boards.

I thought Janet had just gaul to say this to Carly (about the house). I felt like slapping her upside the head... the NERVE to say what she did about refinancing! Then when Carly agreed I was so mad...This was the first time Janet's character actually got me irritated. Is this something that tptb have planned, ie that she turns into a witch??? lol

Is this where Jack lets Janet do whatever and then Janet goes wild and Jack figures out that she's not as nice as he thought she was? Then he sees Carly as being the all giving, caring woman that he really loves? Leading to a CarJac reunion?

Seems to me that we were saying that Jack REALLY needed to beg to Carly for forgiveness before he hooked up w/ Janet? I would LOVE for somebody like Simon to come back to town and make Carly fun again. As much as I have loved CarJac over the years, I'm really just about over it.

Am I getting jaded in my old age? Sorry.

Susan,
Citing the word "jaded" brings my attention to "Jade".  Don't like the character, nothing against the actresses, but the character is awful.   She does nothing for me or the story.  What she did to Lucinda was terrible.  Saying that "at least she didn't have a "gay" husband.  What kind of person, besides Jade, would say something like that to to anyone.

when i saw that in the post before me, that's exactly what came to my mind......i do not like the character either, no matter who's playing her,..couldn't stand the first jade...and when she said what she did to lucinda.....i was and i'm supposed to like this person, why, exactly....

nope......unless they give her an attitude adjustment, she'll never do anything for me at all

Ok, I have a different take on the Carly-Jack-Janet house thing.  The house is Jack's family home in Milltown.  I couldn't understand why Carly was allowed to live there after she came back from running away with Simon.  In the real world, with all that Carly has done a judge would have had her declared an unfit mother and Jack would have gotten everything in the divorce - house, kids, etc.  So, I think Jack has more rights to the house than she.  The other thing that bothers me with the show is they brought up the money problems out of nowhere.  Whatever happened to Carly's dress designing business?  Her interior design business (later on)?  It's no wonder her bar isn't doing well - on New Years there were never more that 3 people in the bar at any given time during the night - and they all argued and left.  Metro used to look great when Dusty owned it and Aaron managed it.  Now, after the "remodeling" Carly did, it looks tiny - like a hole in the wall.   The  dive bar in Montana looked bigger! I know the budget is slim, but if you can't show at least ten cast members in the room at a NYE party, then write a different scene where it is at least plausible.  Did anyone see NYE on One Life to Live?  I watch both shows -TIVO - and ATWT was always my favorite show, but now I feel my intelligence insulted by the stupid writing.  Are we really so supposed to believe that Jack and Carly are behaving this way and saying these things?  Carly was never submissive to Jack.  And, I like Janet - but, the girl has no right to an opinion on the Milltown house.  Why is the show having Janet and Jack go to such lengths to have their own house when they are only going to be at the farm in every scene anyway - like every other person in the show EXCEPT Emma who owns the darn place.  She is the only one never there.   Jeeze...  I feel better now.

I feel sorry for the cast members who have to play these poorly conceived plot lines - ATWT has fallen so far for those of us who have watched for decades.

I must admit that I am not even watching the show and haven't in weeks.  And the sad things is that I don't miss it.  I tuned in one day last week to try to catch up and there was absolutely nothing interesting to me at all.  NuMaddie was on....NuJade was on.....NuLucy and NuJohnny were on.......I hardly even recognized the cast.  It was horrible.  Sorry for the rant but it's sad to me b/c I have watched this show for so long and for the most part have always been interested in it.......

i didnt' see the NYE eppy, because i wasn't home, and one life goes to tape instead...but you are right.....they could have even have had the crew in there, if you dont' have lines, then you dont' get paid for being an extra, that kind of idea, that sounds rediculous three people in a bar on that day of the year...

rodi's on one life, had two people, but that's because the new owner, wanted a private party....so that was understandable....and the competition, well they had a band there, dugh....

i know that money's tight all over, but yup.....atwt, could have done something better, or did they overpay the budget last year with the victorian christmas show that they had.

and i too have wondered, where is carly's business, and yes, the bar looks real small...like maybe it could fit 50 people to copacity, if even that...

and also you are right, by carly deserting her kids, sorry, folks, but that's exactly what she did when she ran off with simon.....it should be jack that's living there, and why wouldnt' janet want her own house, and all that.....i know that i wouldn't want to live with my inlaws.......

i hear you WJ...i had to keep on saying to myself, now who exactly are all these people...and for me, they all look alike....i can't tell numaddie from liberty..i can't tell nulily from nulucy, and nuali....i'm used to her..but they all seem to have the same colour hair..there is no variation anymore, at all....the only one that has different hair is nujennifer, or whoever she's supposed to be....and if that weren't the case, then i too wouldnt' know who she was either......

Don't forget that Addie had a party at home that looked like a hoot!  David showed up to apologize and it was very comical.  Puddle of Mud was at Ultra Violet with the younger cast members in attendance and a lot of extras.  Rodi's was an excuse to show that John is now the owner of the bar since he isn't a cop anymore.

My point is that ATWT writers are lazy and don't use the gold mine of actors they have - the show is sleep inducing and unrealistic.  Instead of showing the characters we want to see - they keep hiring new ones.  Nothing against it if they still show the veterans, but they don't.  I don't care about the new ones if it is at the expense of the veteran actors we love.  OLTL does a better job of showcasing all characters no matter the age.  The show could use some comedy, too - but, Henry and Vienna in lust and pawing each other at the diner is not funny to me, though.  What is unintentionally funny is everyone having the same shade of reddish brown hair - even Casey's blonde locks looked brown the other day.  The lighting is too dark and the sound is low - I have to use CC and read the dialogue sometimes.

i agree, although i dont' like all the stories that they do over on one life, at least they use all their cast, vets, and newbies alike....i think that they're the only soap to do so....days started that again, a couple of years ago, but sadly, all their vets went down the tube, and now their two top draws, have the old heave ho, with more to go...which is so sad..

we want a soap that all can relate to, old, and new alike.....

if they want to create a new soap, then why don't they go ahead and do it........

Who thinks Carly and Craig, and Dusty and Meg will actually tie the knot?  What will happen to Josie and Paul?  Will Craig move in with Carly and the kids, just to tick off Jack?
Would that make Jack mad!!  Can't you see Jack coming to pick up the kids and Parker telling his dad "That's okay, Craig got me this new car and you don't have to drive me around anymore.  I take Sage anywhere she needs to go".
I think we ought to send in our scripts.  They may be more interesting.

Susan,
You realize if they did a "new soap" it would wind up being the same as this one.  Probably even worse, because they'd stick more new people in there and we wouldn't know who is who.  They would replace all our good characters (because they wouldn't want to take a pay cut, less hours and move to something new).

don't see it that way...they'd move the new people into the new soap, maybe take one vet with them..that kind of idea....and we wouldn't have to watch the new one, if we choose not to, and it could send them the proper message, that we want our old soap back..

or they could take the best from oakdale, and stick them into the new soap...and we'd also get the soap we want.

i know what you're saying....but like soap spinoffs that i've watched in the past, i've actually liked them.....they didnt' have high ratings, but i still liked them, because they spun off the people, that really didn't have much of a role on the original soap....or something like that....the reason that they got so low ratings was because they weren't seen by all, there's been a success story in the past couple of years with general hospital's night shift, not all get it, but i watched it on youtube, and i actually enjoy it better then the original, that's totally gone to the mob, and is barely even my soap anymore, it was slated to go for year three, this coming summer, but the EP of GH, is threatened, that it's higher in the ratings, and that the head writer of it, can actually write better then he can, and it got rave reviews, because it focused on the hospital, and brought back characters from the past, that weren't ruined....so of course, it had to be cancelled, that way.

but, a spinoff, could be a positive thing, as i've learnt.....
