Has anyone checked out the sign in's?  I was just scanning to see if the June one is open yet and noticed something very scary.  When we started in September of last year there 134 members that had signed on.  This May, there are only 80 and I know that I duplicated my name once and am sure others did the same.  That's a "very large drop" in members.  And to top it all, I bet that less than 30% of all who are members actually come to the site and verbalize.  It makes you stop and wonder what's going on.  But in my mind, I believe it's not the embers that are falling away, it's the actual soap that seems to be on a downward trend of becoming the most boring soap.  The writing stinks and the plots are even worse.  Okay, that's my comments for the day.  Since I hadn't watched the soap for 3 shows I downloaded the ipod and listened to it.  Now that was worse than boring~~!!

Actually when we started in September, we had over 830 members.  We implemented the sign-in board in the hopes that we could really weed out those of us that frequent the board on a regular basis and those of us that haven't visited the board in quite some time.

We've gone from 830 members to an average of 116-124 on a regular basis.  The reason the number goes down is b/c of the procedure we implemented.  If a member doesn't sign in at least once every other month, we delete the membership and they have to ask to reapply.  Dropping the members the way we have to only those members who are actually utilizing the board has cut down on a lot of work for the management, as far as memberships are concerned.

I don't think it is a coincidence that, as the quality of the writing and the plot development declined (can we say plummeted?), so too did the membership interest and participation.  Seems to me to be a logical consequence.  I don't know about others, but I find it difficult to work up any enthusiasm over discussing such preposterous plots, about characters that seem to be one dimensional, and we all know may disappear for no good reason but a producer's whim.

Did I cover everything?  I'm sure I can come up more damning evidence with little effort.  It's a crying shame what the powers that be of done to destroy a stalwart, once well respected soap.  More often than not, THAT is the topic I'm most provoked to discuss,  not the latest plot insanity.  Thus, I often do NOT post (if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all....)   I think there are many of us that feel the same way.

Hear, hear, Jeanne.  I'm hoping that the soap is finally picking up, but with Jean P. at the wheel, things aren't looking so good.  Like someone said, it's just so sad for a show that most of us have watched for decades to go so far downhill so fast.

Hopefully things around ATWT will start to pick up....they can't get much worse!
