What is everyone doing for the holidays this year? It's so hard to believe that Christmas is just 18 days away! Where has this year gone? I'm very lucky that myself, my husband and our children get to fly to Pennsylvania this year to spend the holidays with my parents and my siblings. I come from a family of eight children so there will be lots of people around. One of the major benefits of growing up in a large family...holidays are always a blast and somewhat reminicsant of Christmas Vacation.... |

Just try to think of all the happy holiday memories you have with him, rather than him not being here for this holiday season.

Susan, I can't imagine how you're going to feel without your dad this
holiday season. My dad is now in a nursing home and that alone saddens me
terribly. I will pray for you ok?

present (and amazingly it will be a new pair of Christmas pajamas!! hehehe
a new pair of PJ's....
now why does that sound familiar...oh yeah..i remember...we as kids were allowed to do one present on christmas eve...guess what it was...sometimes it was a stuffed animal...and we used to have tenents..they didtn' have kids of their own..but they gave us presents..so when we were little it was their gift..but mostly it was those good christmas pj's....lol
oh there was one year we had friends that opened them on christmas eve, all of them...and we begged my parents to let us do the same....they finally relented..but we didnt' enjoy it..so the next year we went back to the way we always did

Well my son celebrates his 1st birthday on Christmas Eve , so that day we will have lunch at McDonald's. The night of the 23rd, I have a get together with my dad's side of the family. Christams Eve night we all gather at my house ( well my parents house). There are usually about 25- 30 people here. This is all family mind you. It's crazy and fun. I wouldn't have it any other way. Christams morning we open stockings and gifts. Then my mom and I make the turkey dinner, complete with trimmings. Later in the day, I go to my grandmother's grave. She raised my siter and I for 5 years. She was my mom in all senses of the word. She died for lung cancer in 98 and I still fill her loss, especailly durring Christams. It was her fave holiday. However, I know she is here with us in spirit. Snow on Christmas Day is my sign of that. She used to love to look at snow. Anyways, that's my Holiday plans. So for being so long about it. |

Eeyore104, sounds like a lot of fun! Your son turning 1 is some exciting times. That is such a fun stage. My daughter's bday is on New Year's Eve. We always make sure she has a separate b-day celebration so she doesn't feel jipped. My mom's house will be filled with lots and lots of people, too and I love it. I have 7 siblings. So there will be lots of kids, spouses and a lot of chaos!! I'm hoping for snow, too...would love to see the kids go sledding. ~~Allison |
