EXTRA SCOOPS AND CASTING NEWS
Kelley Menighan Hensley (Emily) returns to Oakdale after a three-month maternity leave beginning on Wednesday, October 24.
As previously reported, Dylan Bruce joins the show in the role of Chris Hughes. Bruce is the 8th actor to tackle this role. The role was last played by Bailey Chase. Chris was last seen leaving Oakdale for a job with a Children's Hospital in Pittsburgh. Look for Chris to return to town in October.
As previously noted, Ryan Serhant joins ATWT as Evan Walsh IV, son of Evan Walsh III (Greg Watkins). The actor debuts on Wednesday, November 7.

Which doesn't mean that everyone's going to be happy all the time because that isn't how soap-opera stories are told." Jack and Katie's wedding begins today on "As the World Turns," but they may wind up with the shortest union on record.
"Jack and Katie rushed into this marriage," says Terri Colombino, who plays the flighty Katie. "To them, it's because they love each other and want to have a life together as soon as possible. But he has his issues, and she has her issues, hers being: 'I just want to settle down and have someone and it needs to be now.' And also, 'I want to get Carly back for stealing my first love, so I'm taking her first love.' Those are definitely the underlying factors in her rush to the altar."
The underlying threat is that Jack's ex-wife, Carly, is keeping a big secret: She's dying.
"Jack and Katie don't know that," says Colombino. "They're going through with this. Margo is her matron of honor, and Vienna is her bridesmaid. Sage is the flower girl, and Henry walks her down the aisle. Which is only fitting, seeing as Katie actually married Henry, and then he married her and Mike. He has to have a prominent part in the wedding, so he walks her down the aisle."
Jack's brother Brad is not tapped as best man ("He hasn't really deserved it up to this point," notes Colombino), which frees him up to leave the ceremony when he gets a call that Carly has collapsed.
"He comes back to catch the bouquet," says Colombino, "and to tell them that Carly is sick and dying. This marriage is not going to last for long."
Indeed, Jack postpones the honeymoon, telling Katie he can't go lie on a beach when he knows the mother of his children is dying.
"The minute they get married, he's off with her," says Colombino. "Katie's like, 'I can't handle this. I mean, I know she's sick and I understand that you need to be there for your family and everything, but you don't have to be there 24/7. We can get her a nurse.' And he's like, 'No, I can't do that. This is the end of her life.' So Katie pushes him away - and he goes."
Jack and Carly tell the kids that she's sick, but don't spell out the fact that she's dying - actually, she probably isn't since Maura West has a long-term contract and just won an Emmy.
"Then something happens that ... when I read the script, I was in tears," says Colombino. "It's really beautiful. But when Katie finds out about it, that's when she kicks him out!"
Carly is distraught that she can't remember who she is. A cop recognizes Carly as Jack's ex and insists she come to the station. Carly tells Jack that she's dying. Katie sees Jack and Carly in an emotional embrace. Jack tells Carly he's postponing his honeymoon. Jack informs Katie he can't go lie on a beach when Carly wants Jack to adopt Parker. Meg learns Craig is being arrested for the baby switch. Craig tries to convince Rosanna that if she puts him in jail, it will leave the way open for Meg to return to Paul. Aaron learns Cole doesn't know that Sofie didn't get the abortion. Aaron defends Alison, as Dallas insinuates she's involved in the Cheri murder. Noah wants Maddie to consider his friendship, and Maddie admits she misses him, which leads to a hug. Watching this, Col. Mayer mistakenly thinks Noah and Maddie are still together. Noah shares his relief with Luke, and they kiss, as Col. Mayer unexpectedly arrives to see it. Col. Mayer makes his disgust known to Luke and Noah.

Basically the same thing as above. More from Austin Peck's POV in this one. Says Brad is on the phone during the wedding; and they just think he's being his normal irritating self. He leaves, tells Carly to go to the hospital, comes back and Jack lays into him. He tells Jack the truth about her illness.
While the exes bond to tape a video for the kids it leaves the door open for Brad to be a friend to Katie and really be there for her. And perhaps something more?
"There's a twist around the corner," winks Peck.

Her secret comes out after the wedding. Brad hears that she passed out as the wedding starts, so he rushes to the police station. He gets her to go to the hospital and returns to the wedding. Jack is upset that he left so he finally tells Jack that Carly is sick. He also ends up catching Katie's bouquet, which ruins the moment for me. [Me? I'm very excited about this.] But it comes out that Carly is sick so Jack leaves and goes to the hospital.
He finds out that she only has a few months to live and he decides to go through this with Carly. He tells Katie they'll have to postpone the honeymoon. He and Carly make videos for the kids and make sure her last days are the best they can be. Katie, because she lost her mother so young, understands that it is about the kids first, and doesn't really think about that Jack is leaving her to be with Carly. Exec. Producer Vivian Producer says "And even though he's a married man now, Jack vows to be by her side until her dying day."
ATWT has updated the test scenes for "Bonnie", in them she's meeting Holden, and she is now a lawyer.
