The ancient people of Britain and Ireland - the Celts, believed that the land remembers everything that has happened. Their spiritual leaders (druids, bandrui and shamans) were said to be so connected to teh land and everything around them that they were consciously aware of any imbalance that occured. This connection enabled them to sense and draw upon any energies that ran through the Earth.

So they built Stone circles on any spots of energy that they found, groves of trees (nemetons) were planted and grown and any natural groves were considered sacred. There would be burial sites, stone pillars, dolmens, anything that would mark out these power spots, or sacred spaces. Connecting most of these power spots were Ley lines, the Earth's nervous system, and our ancestors were aware of these lines too, sometimes constructing processional ways or avenues on the Lay lines. There are some power spots that are stand alone, with no leys connecting them. This is because of natural shifts in teh Earths crust and plates, making them appear almost anywhere.

The energy of lines and power spots fluctuate during teh day, teh power being strongest at dawn and dusk, this led teh Celts to believe that inbetween times, like dawn and dusk - neither day or night, were particularly Magickal. Their energy is also particularly strong at Full moon, new moon, teh equinoxes and teh solstices.

There are 2 kinds of power spots, the first are of teh Earth energy kind as outlined so far. To find these, you would need a pendulum or divining rods, taking note of any positive reactions in teh area you cover. Power spots and lines make a great place for ritual work, otherwise situate a garden bench over it if you find one in yr garden. The second kind of power spot is called a Personal Power spot. This is usually found in your home; To find your personal power spot it is necessary to cover every inch of your home meticulously, inching your way over every part.

When doing this you will obviously have to be extremely aware of any subtle energy differences, and to be open to them. One technique, is to close your eyes as you inch your way around, 'seeing' with your mind's eye, the colours of energies in your home. Power spots are usually red in colour, and once found you will feel energised, secure and grounded as you stand or sit in this spot for a few minutes. Be careful tho, as there is also a corresponding negative power spot usually in your home, one that feels cold, makes you feel insecure, out of sorts or fearful.

Some of you may have already, inadverdently, found one of these power spots in your home. We all avoid spots of teh negative kind naturally, mostly without realising and we all have a favourite place to sit and feel peaceful. A power spot of a positive kind can also act like a cricle of protection, especially if you have been feeling negative. These are particularly good places for meditation, prayer, spell work or rituals.

If you cannot find one, then you can create your own. It may be that you have found a power spot in, say, your lounge ( or a room that other activities take place) which cannot be used for rituals and meditations as teh energy of teh room would distract you from your task. Simply by doing meditations, working rituals and spells in a chosen place, and sticking to teh same place on a regular basis, you build up a continuous flow of energy on this spot sp that it will remain and become a sacred space. This power will aid you in any magickal work that you perform. Choose a place in you house where you will not be disturbed and stick to it. You may like to build a small altar near it too.

Meditation

ok put yrself in yr sacred space, a place in yr mind where u feel most relaxed

 im in a cave behind a waterfall

theres a door to my left

 open it

 and walk down the path as it turns left and downwards in a spiral

you come out by the pool where the waterfall empties

 running out of it is a river

 collect all negativity within you anf roll it up into a ball

 then throw it in teh river to be carried away

 there is a field further on, walk towards it

 u come to a wood

as u walk thru it u notice sights sounds smells

 theres a mist ahead

 its a pink one

 walk thru it

 its a mist of love

as u come out of teh mist you see a stone circle

 in teh centre near teh altar is a female being

 approach her

 and ask her for healing, guidance and teh awareness to connect

 she asks you to accept responsibilty for you r actiosn in return

 another being approaches

 this ones male

 he beckons you to follow him

as you follow him you are aware that he is taking you to a place or power

 he leads you to another waterfall

 there is a ledge behind it

and a huge pot with some soup bubbling in it

 he scoops some out with a ladle and offers it to you

 it is liquid energy

teh being explains that all power spots belong to goddesses

 as does teh one we are standing at now

 he advises you to ask a question that you hope to have an answer to soon

 you watch as your questions forms into a small golden ball of light

and drops into the waterfall

 thank teh goddess of this place

 the being turns and heads back to teh stone circle and you follow

the female being is there again

 she thanks you for teh question

 and gives you a silver ball of light

 u take it

she asks that u swallow it and trust that yr answer will come to you soon

 she bows to you and then fades away

 this is your cue to head back to yr sacred space

 you look for teh man, but he's gone too

 so u walk back thru teh mist, this time its blue

 a mist of healing

 u come out by teh woods

 and walk thru it and then cross teh firld

finding teh river u follow it back to teh waterfall where u see a door nearby

open it and teh path leads upwards and to your right, spiralling

u finally reach yr sacred space and rest and open yr eyes

 it is done
