Truffle arrived at noon today. She is a big, pink beautiful girl. She came with a huge cage and a really great playground the he makes, both for his own birds and to sell. The cage is a dome top black, which is the only kind I buy. Billy was here and we had to move alot of stuff to get it all in here. She knows her name and talks in a sweet little girl voice. I had forgotten about the antics of MToos and both Billy and I laughed at her turning her head in circles and really showing off. David didn't lie. She can be very loud. We will work on that. We got all the pics downloaded into the pc but I need to learn to downsize them. Hopefully in a few days I will be able to post pics of all of them.

Why do you like dome cages as opposed to flat
tops? Is there a reason they are better? something you like that I Would not
know about if I never had one?.. Thanks Crow |

There are several reasons Crow. Two cages the same size, one with a playground and one with a dome, the dome gives them a lot more inside room. When the birds are out they are either on playgyms or on the sofa with me. Because of the way my house is built all the cages are in front of windows and fairly close to the wall. I would be replacing blinds and woodwork every week if they played on their cages. Also my cats are less likely to climb on a dome top cage. (In this case it's the cats I worry about.) The main reason is, I just like the way they look. Most of the cages have a half perch right above the door and that's everyones favorite perch. All of mine are either black or very dark gray. After years of having birds, and all kinds of cages, this is what I've settled on for me. Peggy |

Thanks for the answer, cats are outside barn cats
here. but I can see all your reasons.
I only have 2 birds and they have a tiny room of
their own with a double stacked BIG cage their own window, their own little
ceramic heaters attached to the side for each bird for those cold nights,
and a big florescent double bulb light that I have hung sideways so each bird
get direct light. It has Sun bulbs in it for extra sunshine in those winter
months..
Most of the time they are in the living room on
their day perches.. So it is sleepy cages for the most part too.

I forgot one other thing. Our little Umby does the head spin on command. We just say Bailey do "Exorcist Bird" and he spins his little head like crazy LOL |

The M2 that I had a few years back was the dearest, sweetest fellow I'd ever met. Unfortunately, there is nothing to be done about the noise --- short of duct-taping their beaks closed. (Just kidding, of course.) It's "the nature of the beast" to be vocally loud and exuberant and expressive. It just naturally goes along with the wing flapping and the head swivels. But you'll adore her anyway, unless you have sensitive ears. I prefer the dome-topped cages, too. I always go for white ones, so the "buzzard dust" doesn't show up so distinctly. |

Oh Peggy I am so glad you have her and you are her new mom...... remember to let me know the "band"info.... More than anything else I am so thankful she's not one of mine ....I've made so many callsPeggy to all my buyers that still have phones and it seems by the yelling in the background my babies are doing well and still in their pernament homes..... I counted 12 in all not including my little Amber and Scarlet that passed away two years ago..... but still have the 91's and 92's unaccounted for, not too many those year though...looks like only 4 born both years .....Too2 |

T&Bs Dad, Yes, I did have an Mtoo. She was about 18mo when she died in a house fire. Noise was never a problem with her because I got her when she was 3wks and she was raised to entertain herself. I was warned about Truffles, but I live alone except for the critters so if they make noise, I don't care. I had a problem with my Goffins and we've managed to quite him down a lot. Actually she's beem pretty good so far. No one should expect a Too or any bird to be quiet all the time. I also have a Utoo but I don't think she screams as much as some I've heard. Mostly a sunrise, sunset thing. She's gotten quieter too with some work. She loves to display, but never does the head thing. Truffles looks like she's trying to unscrew hers. LOL.
Too2, she doesn't have a band. I know she was hatched 6/7/99 so she will be 6yrs next mo. The next time I talk to David I will ask him about the band. She seems to be settling in real good so far. She likes for me to pet her, but she's not real relaxed yet. He was worried she was not eating well but she's been eating fine so far. She set in my lap and let me do her toenails and that's a big thing to me. I'll wait a few more days and do the wings. Hope to be able to post pics soon. Peggy |
