Hi,
I am looking for as much information on Ducorps Too's as I can get, especially from pet bird owners, what type of pet do they make, noise, biting, do any of you have birds that are prone to plucking/mutilating I know all Toos are emotional and complex birds but I have been told that Ducorps do not do well in pet homes they may start off ok but WILL change..........................so calling all ducorps owners give me your opinion good or bad.
thank you

I take it that you are interested in the touchy feely birds over those that are more independent.... Probably a Too will be like dealing with a human child who when reaches the age of 18 remains as a terrible two year old... they are needy emotionally, require a lot of affection (more than other species) and can be loud, destructive and full of the devilement.
The D2 is somewhat like the Goffin, a little clown most of the time and certainly the Houdini of birds when it comes to being an escape artist.
Diet for the D2 is as with all birds and has to include both fresh and pelleted or seed (there are so many web sites with great info and we have I believe some on the sidebar)...
I think as for the personallity it would depend on how much nurturing the bird had with the breeder and how much socialization you plan on spending teaching the bird it's boundaries and therefore encouraging a trusting nature.....biting, screaming and other bad behaviour needs to be checked out for the reasons to all or any... especially when hormonal, bored or where we totally spoiled the bird rather than teach it to entertain itself...
The D2 baby has a distinct "whine" that can continue well into the first year,  while some find it annoying others when it stops miss that whine..Too2

Scots, I have to say what I understand from Linda's comment. In different words I think she said she doesn't think they make bad pets.

See if you read it differently now.

Yes I do see that Annie and thank you for pointing it out to me....
How terrible that I read it wrongly and making judgements from past history (and no excuse either) caused my leap to form an opinion.

I can only apologize profusely....that was a terrible mistake to make......... Too2

We've all done that. Misunderstandings are so common when we all use different ways of expressing ourselves.

I hate to point out something like that. But it is fair, I hope.
