Managers  are we allowed to talk about specific toys?  Just wondering.  There is never any discussion on any kind of toys people have found that really entertain our fids.

Did you ever see the red rectangle toy with buttons for the birds to push and it talks.  Just wanted to say the buttons are really easy to push.  Taking Bubba a couple days to want to get near it.  I forgot red is not his favorite color.

The color is one thing to think about.  The loudness of the toy also.  Might be kinda scarey.  My dog did some barking. It also flashes red lights.  Who knows what bird would be scared of that.  It does have a nice size mirror on it.  I bought the large for Amazons but does have a smaller size.

Just thought we could talk about toys without advertising.  Managers is there any way to do this.  I like seeing what others have found that are interesting.  And like to here the bad stuff too.

Indy, we've actually had many discussions about toys over the years. I guess you just didn't stop in at the right moment! lol

As long as no one is promoting their toy making business, or posting links to commercial sites, there is no problem at all.

There are lots of us who use old toy parts to assemble new toys, as so often only some parts of the toy have been destroyed! lol  And the pros and cons about various toys are sure good to know.

I also think it is a lot of fun to get ideas from others on things around the home that can be made into great toys for our birds.

Go for it, Indy!

I usually make toys for him to destroy but I see alot of foraging toys out there and hate to spend the money if they aren't made well.  Right now he is spending time destroying a baseball size wiffle ball.  Better than most toys at least for him And 6 for a buck is great price.

Maybe someone else will join in here.  I mentioned the talking toy cause I almost ordered another one that is round and you press a button.  Found out it was real hard for a bird to do.

Also there are a few dollar stores in US not sure about Canada. If someone finds something good is it legal here to say we got something at a particular store. Probably not but if alot of these stores have almost same stuff in different cities we could find some bargains if someone finds something.

I have a toy that the birds and I love. It is the about the size of a portable phone, a bit shorter. It has 9 buttons and each makes a sound. Sirens and honking and others. Problem is, I trusted one of the birds to have it in the cage and now the buttons don't poke out any more. Still works though.
We also have a windup child's music box. They like it, too, but only Mama is allowed to touch it. I think the music box is a brand name but the other was a dime store find.
Have you tried the triangular shaped music boxes that hang from a chain and have a button to push? You can buy many different songs for them. My birds never learned to push the button so that was wasted dollars.
I used a skinny tall white medicine bottle, put in two pebbles and glued the top shut. Nice rattle-y toy. Also a hand cream jar done the same way. Patti conure tried to hatch it.  I had to take it away from her. She needed to hatch it so badly that she was not eating enough.

Awwwww ... poor Patti conure!!! Trying to hatch more hand cream for Mama, was she? lol  I know it's sad that the poor girl wasn't eating because of her efforts, but it sure gave me the giggles to visualize her carefully turning the jar, and carefully sitting on it! lol  In fact, I can't seem to stop giggling!! I better go to bed and read or I'm going to wake up the birds! lol

I wish I had gotten a pic of her on the big jar, but that was back in the olden days when I had a big heavy slr. She was scared of that camera.

Annie   you must to have been the one or maybe Di that told me about that musical toy was hard to push.  This one I ordered now is so easy.  But I wouldn't leave in cage cause there is a battery.  Maybe it could be hooked out side and they still could push the 4 buttons.  The voice is a little weird.  Hope Bubba doesn't start talking like it though.  HA HA

Any one buy those new forage toys that are clear acrylic and you hook on side of cage.  you get cardboard boxes with it and you are suppose to fill them up.  Wondered how they are.
