When Oliver was on antibiotics, either the oral or the  injectable, I added the Bragg raw-unfiltered Organic Apple Cider Vinegar to his drinking water-like 1/2 a capful.  It(I believe) countereacted the effects of the antibiotic-kept the flora normal, or at least helped.  Am I wrong~any thoughts or comments/ideas??  Skeeter

I have heard others say that works.
My vet recommended Bene Bac (live beneficial bacteria) to use in conjunction with antibiotics and that worked well for us. It keeps the gut flora from causing diarrhea.

Gina suggested I give Major the Bena Bac also

I always gave my breeders the vinegar in thier first change drinking waters every morning and then the noon change was back to the regular...
And some even add a touch of vinegar to chicks water/formula

I used BeneBac when Sunny DYH was on antibiotics.  I have also started putting ACV in all the birds bowls (6 drops in the size crocks they have, as the crocks are in the medium to large size) and I use it in my own drinking water.  I use organic ACV that I pick up at my health food store, but I've read the cheap store brands are just as effective.

I guess I could make up a couple of gallons of water a day and keep in the fridge as I change out their waters so often I'd be here all day adding the ACV.

As usual, I forget how, but I have an eyedropper that just fits the ACV bottle.  It's a little rubbery, and if I push it down with a little bit of pressure, it seals up just fine.  I've read where a lot of people do make up a gallon at a time, to be used each day.

Are you guys adding the acv to the water in the bowls or the bottle feeders?  I would be concerned about the stainless bowls -- no????

Sort of late in answering this but I don't think stainless steel is reactive to acids. I'll look around and see what the gov says.

OK, I looked, and if acids are left on stainless too long they can etch or stain it. China, corning or sealed pottery bowls like Fenix would be better to use.

Whoops, I posted that I use ACV, and then didn't follow up on your question.

My Amazons have crocks in their cages....sealed pottery.  (Annie, I didn't know what to call them till I read your post.)

My greys are in Prevue-Hendryx cages (a whole other story), and they have those little plastic bowls.

So I don't use ACV with stainless.
