Hiya Fid Lovers!
Well as you can see the construction is finshed and all we are doing is waiting for the electrican to come out, and to get the water hooked up. Once tht is done I'll scrub it all down and start moving in birds!!
All the house siding is done too and my poor head is glad cause there was a lot of pounding going on for days which did not help the migraine situation at all.
We're also waiting for the bookshelves we ordered to come in( Lots of hurry up and waiting going on around here)and then we can put the finshing touches on the library.
So how is everyone? Tell us what is going with you! Nan

WOW! Nanners, that looks soooo great and roomy!  Great job!  I love the exterior color, too.

Today is hubby's birthday and Shelley brought over donuts and some wonderful yummy exotic coffee drinks from Starbuck's early this morning to celebrate.  It was so fun to just sit around and have a lazy morning, just the three of us, the two dogs and the birds.    We sat out on the patio and enjoyed listening to the canaries sing and watched as they splashed in their baths...what a great laid-back morning.  We never seem to have any of those around here.

Before Shelley left she fixed the two panes that had blown out of Don's hothouse during our big wind-storm in January, so now he's ready to plant some tomatoes in there again.  He has had an injured rotator cuff that has progressed into a frozen shoulder on his right shoulder, since the holidays, so he's been pretty pathetic when it comes to getting any work done around here that requires using both hands.

Happy May Day to everyone!   di

Wow--that addition looks way different than I was thinking it did.  Did you add the 2nd floor above, or is the addition tied in to the original house?  So now  you'll be free to wander the country this summer?

Sitting here on the computer, trying to avoid a flurry of house-cleaning   Company coming Tuesday night.  A non-mystery date

What a wonderful addition to your house ~~ and to your life, Nan.  Every nail pounded and cloud of dust raised will be worth it when that last workman drives away!

Since my surgeries in March, I have been sitting around, doing next to nothing.  So, I decided to get off my duff and do some volunteer work.  Put in my first "shift" this morning.  I'm incredibly tired now but I feel that I actually accomplished something.

And someone around here mentioned spring cleaning bird rooms and that inspired me to start deep cleaning cages, etc.  I must confess that I've only done two and there's only two more to go but even that gives a satisfying feeling.  Unfortunately, I can remember the days, not too long ago, when I could whip out 8 or 10 in a day!!  As a wise man said, "Getting older is not for sissies!".  Heehee

Today our wonderful workmen finished replacing all the windows that look out onto the deck and the slider from the living room to the deck.   I was going to post a picture but the glare frome the sparkling clean windows would just blind you!  Probably will be the only time they'll be this clean and sparkling.

This week Don and I have been planting and painting and cleaning up before and after carpenters.  Glad they are done for a few days.  Next week we are having a bit of cement work done out front for a little patio for the oldsters next to one of the small decks off of the front of the house and an arbor and a new gate from the driveway on the pathway to the house.  Gee, I hope we will be done for awhile so we can enjoy the coming summer.  di

We went visiting yesterday to the beach then on to Panama City and finally to see a friend. This afternoon we're off to New Orleans and will spend the night before they leave out tomorrow evening from MSY.
I just peeked at the birds that I rehomed as there was a commotion when they heard my voice and it hurt like all get up........ never stops hurting infact.... but I didn't want to get them upset so I didn't go near the cages....
I might go by myself next week to visit Terry, Genny and Bob and see how all the others are doing...
Magnolia is being a brat and has been a pain for quite a while. I guess she misses all her playmates. Not only is she mean to me but mean to General who has no idea what's going on. In all the years they have been together they never squabbled, now I can't trust her alone with him.

Too, I'm so far "out of the loop" that I don't understand what you mean when you talk about birds that you rehomed.  I've missed something, obviously.  Are you referring to birds that you took in or ones that you placed elsewhere?

I'm volunteering twice each week.  Seems really good to have something constructive to do!

Is it my imagination or have folks slowed down considerably in their posts about their birds, sharing news and questions, around here?  It's probably just me.

Everything has slowed down, Birdlady.  I agree with you, I'm often lost, too.  We always get the slows during the spring and summer months, but things are much slower than usual, much earlier than usual.

I don't have my usual posts about new canaries as we are no longer breeding any and the four hens I have left are all sitting on plastic eggs.  The only unusual thing I have happening there is that the two sisters who have always shared a nest, a male, and raised their babies together in one nest have added another female this year.   So there are three females sitting...triple-decker-type...on a nest with four blue plastic eggs in it.  Silly girls.  There are 5 nests in their flight and plenty of nesting material so there really is no reaso for the triple-scoop thing.  di

Wow......guess I've missed some goings-on in here!  Its been awhile!  Nan, that new bird room is incredible!!  Lucky, lucky fids!!  Too, your vacation photos are beautiful!!  Thanks for sharing!
All is well here - just incredibly busy with all avenues of life right now.  Birds are doing great - everyone checked out well during their latest well-vet checks.
Oregon weather has been weird!!  We had record highs near 100 for a week.....and now this week was in the 40's and LOTS of rain!
We are hoping for some "normal" SOON!
This week will be very hectic...  My son graduates from high school this Saturday!  With family and friends arriving for the festivities, I'm sure the time will fly by.
*HUGS* to all!
Crystal

Tommy.....caught in the "act" BEFORE he had a chance to make a dandy mess!
