I have of course perused numerous QP sites & I'm noticing an average weight for quakers is over 100grams.
Kyra(my QP) only weighs around 80 grams..she's 6 months old.  I assume she's done growing?  Should I be concerned since she seems "underweight"?  She acts fine...loving to me..bites my b/f tells him no & then laughs...
 Thanks all,
Azarae D.

What does your vet say about the weight? I went out looking for some charts and found AVERAGES from 90-110. So using those like a childs weight chart I would guess you just got a smaller ball of energy--but if it concerns you I would ask your vet.         Katz

Well, I hate to say it but there is only one vet that will see birds in this area...and I think I almost know more than she does :(  I will only take the birds there for their yearly tests & if it's a total emergency...I had to literally yell at this vet because she almost aspirated one of my birds right in front of me.
So, she didn't say anything about the weight when I had her in there, but she'd never heard of a quaker before either.
Ugh.   Well I like the 90 grams better than 100grams on the charts I saw...thanks!

I'm Not Sure On The "average" Weight But My Abby Weighs In At 113grams And She's Just Over A Year Old. I Bet Its Safe To say That Your Kyra Has Some Growing To Do.

 I hope so :)  She's such a sweetie I just try & make sure she's happy & healthy as best I can!
I forgot to mention the vets office has 2 quakers in a plexiglass cage...but they're HUGE.  I couldn't believe they were quakers the first time I was there...they were about 2 1/2 of Kyra, maybe they're mutations but wow!

I don't post real often but thought this might help.  I got it off of pristinepets.com

There are 4 sub species of the, what we consider, normal Green Quaker. Aside from that there are color variations. At Prisitine Pets we have the "normal green" quakers, the "mini" quaker (sub species native to Paraguay), Blue Quakers, Split to Blue (visually green but has blue genetic make up).
Maybe you have a mini and didn't know?  My Quaker weighs 125grams.

Ahh, well that tells me alot then!! I wondered but honestly I have several books & while they say that they are "babies" for longer than the weaning period, I have never read in any of them how long they continue to grow.
Sorry to sound stupid then :/  She's just such a sweetheart I think that I worry about her more than I did my own babies sometimes.

Azarae,  Let me assure you that no one on this board thinks you are stupid for asking about the weight of any bird.  It's important to know.  And I learned something in this thread, too.  I didn't know there were 4 sub species of Quakers.
I used to worry about the weights of children and birds, too.  Finally it was explained to me--many years ago--that to get an average, you will have a skinny, low weight child or bird and a chubby, high weight child or bird.  The one in between those extremes is the average. And they are all "normal".  Sure made me feel better about my skinny child and my chubby child.
Annie

Hi,
Just joined and thought I'd throw out the weights of my 2 quakers. I adopted Darby at 9 months of age. She weighed 96 grams then and now 23 months later she weighs 134 grams and has weighed this for about a year. My vet sees her on a yearly basis and said this weight was fine not to let her get bigger. Her diet is 90% pellets and 10 % fresh food. Neither of them are given fatty foods or junk. Toby weighed 94 grams when he came home at 8 weeks of age. He now also weighs 134 grams. He has been slowly gaining over the past year. He is 2 years old now. Give her time. The main thing is that she eats well and her poops are normal. I have a digital gram scale and I weigh my babies first thing in the morning every 2-3 days.

Also remember that birds physically grow-up fast and fill out slowly. It protects them in the wild and is perfectly natural. Keep watching the diet, weight and overall health. You are asking all the right questions and are being a wonderful fid owner!!!

*Chuckles* my little chubby bubby Pippin, weighs 147 and the vet told me I should get him down to around 120.  He has high cholesterol and a low calcium level so I'm slowly getting him onto a pellet diet, incresing his fresh veggie intake, and am going to give him a calcium supplement for a few months.  He's not too happy about the pellets and doesn't believe me when I tell him its for his own good.  Yesterday when I gavee him his pellets with a little seed added, he looked at it and told me I was a bad girl, lol!
