A Trio of Little Candy Jars

WHAT YOU NEED

* 3 different sized glass jars, washed and dried (any small food jar)
* Cardboard box
* Wax paper
* Velvet adhesive fibers kit
* Craft jewels and beads
* Safety scissors
* Decorative fabric
* Cotton balls
* Fabric glue
* Craft glue gun
* Ribbon
* Non-toxic paper clay ?ready made
* Paper clip
* Non-toxic acrylic paint (Suggested colors yellow, blue, purple and pink)
* Pencil
* Butterfly or other decorative insect (Be sure it has a wire attached to to it so you can insert it into the clay. You can find these in the floral department of any craft store)
* NESTLÉ SNO-CAPS, RAISINETS, GOOBERS

HOW TO DO IT

For the Velvety Jewel Candy Jar

* Wash and dry a food jar and lid.

* Line a cardboard box with wax paper.

* Remove the lid. Using a damp brush, apply a generous amount of adhesive. Place the lid in the box lined with wax paper. Immediately apply fibers.

* Allow lid to dry overnight.

* Glue craft jewels on top and around the edge of the lid.

* Fill with SNO-CAPS.

For the Fabric Topped Candy Jar

* Cut a circle out of fabric about and inch and a half wider around than the size of the lid.

* Glue a few cotton balls on the lid of the jar with non-toxic fabric glue.

* Place the circle of fabric over the cotton balls.

* Have a grown up help glue the fabric to the edge of the lid using a craft glue gun, there will be about 1" of fabric extending below the lid. Glue a 1/4-inch wide piece of ribbon, about 8" long, around the rim of the jar and tie it in a bow at the front.

* At the ends of the ribbon, add a decorative bead, and secure with a knot.

* Fill with RAISINETS.

For the Clay Candy Jar

* Start with a ball of clay, about the size of a tangerine and mold it over the lid, making sure you cover the edge.

* Poke a hole into the clay using a paperclip; this is where you will insert your butterfly.

* Let it dry overnight.

* Using non-toxic acrylic paint apply a coat of yellow over the entire clay lid. Let it dry.

* With a pencil, draw several circles of various sizes on the clay lid.

* With the remaining three colors, paint in the circles. Let it dry

* Insert butterfly in the hole you made, securing it with a dab of glue.

* Fill with GOOBERS.

FOLLOW UP FUN

* After Mom has finished all of the candy, her little jars will be perfect in her bathroom, filled with cotton balls or cotton swabs.

All activities should be parent supervised. Parents, please make sure that the tools and items needed for a project are appropriate for your child.
