Evidence for Christianity

Recommended by: Monette922

By: Josh McDowell

Publisher: Thomas Nelson

Date Published: 2006

About This Book

Paperback, 400 pages
Limited Time Price: $9.99
ISBN: 1418506281
CBD Stock Number: WW506281

Scholarly, well-written, and exhaustively researched, Evidence for Christianity presents a powerful case for why Christianity is both true and real. Drawing upon rigorous scholarship of countless authorities and historical evidence, McDowell provides evidences beyond a reasonable doubt that Christ was exactly who he said he was, sent to do exactly what God his Father commissioned him to accomplish. You'll find answers to questions such as:
  • How was Jesus Christ profoundly different from any other man who ever lived, and why?
  • Is Christianity based on a blind faith or a faith rooted in historical reality?
  • Is the Bible a reliable historical record of the events it describes?
  • Was the resurrection of Jesus a hoax or is there evidence that it was an actual historical event?
  • Were the major events of Jesus's life and death accurately foretold centuries earlier?
Evidence for Christianity will provide you with greater confidence and a revitalized foundation in your Christian faith. It will also provide a reason to believe for anyone skeptical of the claims of Christianity.

NOTE: Evidence for Christianity contains the best of The New Evidence That Demands a Verdict, condensed down to a less intimidating but still comprehensive coverage of all the best evidence for the reliability of the Christian faith. Philosophical reasons and responses to major non-Christian thought systems are not addressed; they can be found in The New Evidence That Demands a Verdict.

Johnny Angel

Recommended by: Monette922

By: Danielle Steel

Publisher: Dell

Date Published: June 2004

About This Book

I just saw a review of a book by Danielle Steel called "Johnny Angel".  If you have read it, tell us what you thought about it.  This was the review listed on the Wal-Mart site:

In her 58th bestselling novel, Danielle Steel tells the breathtaking story of a mother's love and a son's gift, of the tragedy that nearly destroyed a family...and the miracle that saved them. With a word or a smile, seventeen-year-old Johnny Peterson could light up a room. A star athlete and class valedictorian, Johnny's future was brilliant--until he stepped into a car on prom night and, in an instant, the shining future ended, his life over. Johnny's family and sweetheart, Becky, must struggle to put together the pieces of their shattered lives. But amid the heartache, something miraculous is about to happen that will alter the course of each of their lives. When a sudden illness strikes Johnny's mother, Alice, a glorious vision comes to her in her dreams. There, standing before her, is Johnny, gently urging his bewildered mother to be strong for her family. For Alice, seeing her son again is a miracle she can't quite believe. In the weeks to come, Johnny will appear in the most unlikely places, visible only to the two people who need him most: his nine-year-old brother, locked in a silent world, whose special needs Johnny always seemed to understand...and his mother, who has always nurtured her family but who now needs a guardian angel of her own. Through a season of healing, Johnny will guide those he left behind out of their grief, leaving miracles in his wake that will change them all forever. He brings with him, and leaves behind, the blessings of laughter, love, and hope. An unforgettable story of loving and letting go, of mixed blessings and second chances, Johnny Angel is a celebration of life, hope, and forgiveness. It will make you laugh and cry...and hold your loved ones just a little bit closer.

Just this last weekend my daughter was kind enough to buy this book for me
while we were out running errands. I can say that it is everything that the
release said that it is. The only violence was the accident that killed
Johnny.

It made me cry and showed just what a guardian angel is all about. He was
there to tell his Mom that she was going to be okey and so was the rest of
the family. Danielle Steel is one of my most favorite author's so I have
read all or should I say most of her books and have a collection of them. I
reread them when I just can't find anything else to read.

If you read the book I hope that each of you enjoy it and realize that each
of us have that guardian angel to talk to and that will look after all of
us.

About This Book

A Crossings Book Club Review ...

You can spend the rest of your life trying to discover God’s purpose for you—or you can discover it in the next 40 days. This is not a self-help book about finding the right career or cramming more activities into a busy schedule. Rather, it will teach you how to do less in life by focusing on what matters most—becoming what God created you to be.

This exciting, biblically based program guides you on a 40-day spiritual journey to your answer to life’s most important question: What on earth am I here for? By the end of this journey, you’ll know God’s purpose for you and how the pieces of your life fit together. Having this perspective will reduce your stress, simplify your decisions and, most important, prepare you for eternity.

The Book "The Purpose Driven Life"  is a very great and wonderful book.  Many churches have had classes using thisbook for discussions and study about life.  I started this book many months ago and I still pick it up to re-read it quite often.  It is a book you always want around to read again.   God Bless Rick Warren !

About This Book

Tongue In Check by Joseph M. Stowell is a  book I purchased at a Ladies Retreat.  I would recommend this book to anyone who likes to study about the different ways we can improve our lives through listening to the Lord.  It, and very thoroughly so, discusses the ways we can use our tongue in a positive rather than negative way to greatly improve our lives and and have effective Christian influence on others.  It is the type of book we should keep at hand and review from time to time as we feel ourselves slipping back into negative thinking and thus negative speaking.  I really hope you will go to your local Christian book store and buy or have them order this book.  You will understand just why I m so "sold" on it.  I can't find words to urge you any stronger.  I am sure  that you will agree with me once you read and reread this helpful book.
