"Conform To The Word"
"And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God." Romans 12:2
If it's the will of the Lord that we not be conformed to this world, then it's the will of the Lord that we be conformed to His word. To be conformed to His word means that if the word says, "Don't", we don't. If it says, "Do", then we do. If it says, "Refrain", then we refrain. If it says, "press, seek, ask", then that's what we do. Conforming to the word of God means that the word is the standard by which our lives are governed and lived. It's the "plumb-line" by which we measure our actions, attitudes, speech, etc. In short, conformity is... "doing the word".
How can we "conform" to the word? First, you have to read it. You have to know what it says before you can follow/conform to it. When you get ready to build something you have to pull out the instruction manual and read the directions. That's what the word of God is- our instruction manual through life. Second, you have submit yourself to God. To submit to God means that you put yourself under subjection to be obedient to Him- His will, His plan, His directions, His instructions. As you submit yourself to Him, you are in the process of denying yourself. Submitting to Him and denying yourself is the key to conforming to His word.
You must read the word, but it's meant for more than just reading. It's God's intention that you pattern your life- every area- after it. When you do, you are conforming to His word and doing His will.
Have a great day. What are you conforming your life to? The world or the word?
