"Relentless"
"For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live." Romans 8:13
This afternoon I was sitting outside on my swing when I heard a noise overhead. It was a hawk being chased and harassed by four or five crows- the crows kept cawing and pecking at the hawk. The hawk was flying in circles while the crows kept after him- this went on for several minutes. (Crows and hawks are big enemies.) As I watched what was going on I noticed how "relentless" those crows were. They would not give up, they did not quit, they did not give that hawk on moment of peace or quite until they finally had him on the run once and for all.
I thought to myself, this is how we should be with sin and the devil- they are both our "big" enemies. We need to be relentless when it comes to dealing with sin in our lives. We need to be unyielding and not cease to deal with it no matter how much it persist in hanging on. We need to be this way with the devil as well. We don't need to give him any place but instead keep on resisting and resisting. We don't need to slack up, we need to put him on the run when he comes with his accusations and temptations. It's not a time for playing games. It's a time to get serious in dealing with the enemies of our soul. Get relentless with sin. Don't let it find a place to "land". Get relentless in your resistance of the devil. Don't give him any place either.
Have a great day. Be like those crows and don't quit until the enemy is chased away.
