How do you change your member nickname for msn. I would like to change it from eaganm73 to something else. Sorry for all the questions I don't know where else to get them from.

Don't apologize for asking questions, Michelle.  Your questions are good ones that I imagine others have wondered about too.  As my dad told me many years ago, asking questions is the way you learn.

Ok, to change your member name, go to "Member Tools" and click on "My Profile".  Click on your name on your profile and you can edit it.  Very simple!

Anyone who changes their member name must notify me so I can adjust the membership list.  I will delete your current member name and make a note of your new name so I will know who you are.  Just remember that  your currant account will be gone so if anyone clicks on your name in a post that you previously made it will say "No longer a member".

I know this is confusing so if you or anyone else has another question, don't hesitate to ask.  Thank you.

If it is going to change my previous post maybe I should not do that then.

What I would suggest is starting a new account with the new name you have chosen. Then Monette can delete your current name from the membership roster and you can reapply with the new one. Your messages will remain here under the old name (provided Monette clicks the button that allows for that) and you can post a message that you have changed your nickname. Then post under that name. This also has the added benefit of giving you more storage with MSN.

Laurie, Michelle has already applied with a new member account but what I was trying to explain is this:

"Just remember that  your currant account will be gone so if anyone clicks on your name in a post that you previously made it will say "No longer a member"."

If her current membership is deleted, so will be all the graphics she had in storage.  Right?  Then how will that affect the graphics on her previous posts?  I assume they will be gone too although her posts will probably remain since most of the time I allow it, but there are some I have chosen to delete.

How many people will read a post about her changed name as the post scrolls back?  Some people only look at the items posted on the current page of the General board.

I am not saying that she cannot change her member name as there are others who have done so for various reasons.  I just want people to consider other changes that will take place before they do change their name.

As you have explained previously, I believe it would be best to create another private group with a new member name as manager to use for storage then switch to your current name and apply for membership.  Now go back to your "manager" account and accept the application.  Now all your graphics are available to you under "My Online Photos" when you go to insert a picture on a post.  This has helped me tremendously.  Thanks, Laurie.

Ok, Michelle, your choice ... the ball is in your court!

She can have more than one account and all graphics, etc. will remain provided when you delete her old account, you don't click on the delete all messages, etc. I have about 10 accounts on MSN and use all the storage.

Once she has used her new name a few times, it won't matter. Very seldom does anyone click on the name to see the info.

If she completely deletes her old account, then, yes, of course, all her info would be gone but there is no reason to do so. You can have more than one MSN account.

It isn't a big deal. People change their nicknames on here all the time.

Monette922,

So would it be a problem if  I just get a whole new account. I have tried changing my nickname the way you said but I can't get it to show up on anything. This is so confusing. I'm I missing something or am I not doing something right. Sorry that I am not understanding this.

Yes, Michelle, it's ok if you want to get a new account and apply again.  No problem.  I know it's confusing.
