Wacky Cake?

Hmmm, sounds a little "wacky" to me!  Never heard of it, so I did a "Google" search and came up with a whole page of various recipes.  It probably doesn't look exactly like this graphic I used, but I read that it is a chocolate cake made with no milk or eggs, a product of the WWII era when those things were rationed.  Interesting!  Here are some recipe links for it:

Shirley, you're not having pumpkin pie?  It's not Thanksgiving with out that!  I used to make 5 different kinds of pies every Thanksgiving, usually at least 2 of each .. apple, pecan, custard, pumpkin, and mincemeat.  Bonnie would usually make a couple of chocolate pies.  Sometimes someone would bring a chocolate cake or perhaps a coconut cake.  Bonnie doesn't like coconut though.

About 15 years ago one of her friends brought her a fresh coconut cake for Christmas.  She graciously said, "Thank you very much" and brought it here.  Guess who ate the whole thing!!!  (Well, over a period of a few weeks, of course.)  Mmmm, sure was good!

Oh, I forgot about my traditional Collin Street Bakery Fruit Cake that I used to order for Christmas.  Nobody else likes that either so I had a good time!!!  LOL  I miss having it at Christmas time now but those pecans are a little hard on the gums!  Yes, I have dentures but I hate them!

Here is the link to the Collin Street Bakery, which is located just a few hours from me in Corsicana, Tx.  It is world famous!  Simply delicious!! It is even ordered by movie stars and the White House!  There are other variaties of desserts too.  Check out their web site:

Maggie, I'm glad to hear that you had a nice Canadian Thanksgiving last month and I know you're going to have a blast for New Year's Eve.  I can't get used to the idea of having Thanksgiving in early October.  It's still pretty warm here then.  You have your Christmas shopping almost all done?  Wow!  I haven't started but I may just give money this year.  Too many to buy for and I have no idea what to get any of them.  Anybody want my Christmas list?  I only have about 30 or so names on it.

Ok, I've added my 2 cents worth.  Wonder who will read it?  And who will respond?

Well, it's evening time here now and soon I will be watching my favorite TV show, "Dancing With The Stars".  Only 3 couples remaining and one will be sent home tonight.  They are all very good dancers but I hope Brooke and Derek win.
