Day 13

Purpose Driven Life

Worship that pleases God

"love the LORD your God with all your Heart

and with all your Soul and with all your Mind

and with all your strength"

Mark 12:30

God wants all of you

God doesn't want to part of your life HE asks for all of your heart

all your mind

all your strength

NOT interested in halft hearted commitment

partial obedience

or leftovers

Samaritan woman asked where the best

place time and style for worship

Jesus replied

external issue are irrelevant

where you worship is not important as

why you worship

and how much you offer to God

When you worship

there is a right and a wrong place to worship

"let us be grateful and worship God in a way

that will please him "

Hebrew 12:28

God is pleased when our worship is accurate

"True worshippers will worship the Father in

spirit and thruth for they are the Kind of

worshipers the Father seeks"

John 4:23

God is pleased when our worship is authentic

Jesus said you must

" worship in spirit" not in Holy spirit but

your spirit being made in Gods image

where you spirit resides your spirit to

communicate to HIM

Love God with all yur Heart and Soul

heartless praise is not praise at all it is

worthless and is an insult to God

When we worshp God looks past your words

to see our atttide of our hearts the bible says "

man looks at the outward appearance but the

Lord looks at the heart"

Real worship happens when your spirit

responds to God not when you become

emotionally moved by music

many forms of praise are mentioned in bible

confessing

singing

shouting

standing in honor

kneeling

dancing

making joyful noise

testifying

playing musical instrument

raising hands

the best style of worship is the one that

most authentically represtnets your love

for God based background and personality

God gave you

there is no

ONE SIZE FITS ALL

approach to worship

you don't bring glory to God by trying to

be someone HE never intended you to be

God is pleased when our worship is thoughtful

"love God with all your mind

4 times in New Testament

God i not pleased with

thoughtlest singing hymns

perfunctory praying of cliche's

or careless exlamation of praise "praise the Lord "

Because we can't think of anything else to say at that moment

if worship is mindless it is meaningless

trying praising God without

praise,

hallelujah,

thanks,

amen

instead use

admire,

respect,

value,

revere,

honor,

appreciate,

also be specific

Worship can be a witness -

what if a astranger was there

watching and did not understand

you and did not know when to say

amen or what you said how could

you be witnessing?

God is pleased when our worship is

practical offer our body as a living

sacrifices holy and pleasing to God

this is your spiritual act to worship

God is please with different sacrifices

of worship

thanksgiving

praise

humility

repentence

offering of money

prayer

serving others

sharing with those in need

real worhip cost

Cost - our self centeredness

cant exalt God & yourself at same time

when you praise God even when you don't

feel like it, when you get out of bed to worship

when you're tired or when your help others

when you are worn out you are offering a

sacrifice of worship to God that please God

Day 13

thinking about my purpose

Point to ponder:

God wants all of me

Verse to Remember :

"love the Lord your God with all your Heart with all your sould and with all your mind and with all your strength" Mark 12:30

Question to consider:

which is more pleasing to God right now - my public worship or my private worship? what will I do about this?

Day 13 write up

Purpose Driven Life

Worship that pleases God

"love the LORD your God with all your Heart

and with all your Soul and with all your Mind

and with all your strength"

Mark 12:30

God wants all of you

(yes he wants all of you...

everything not little not half.. not just little bits...

but it all 100% when you have to give

it all is when you give it all... and you will not regret it.. )

Jesus said you must

" worship in spirit" not in Holy spirit but

your spirit being made in Gods image

where you spirit resides your spirit to

communicate to HIM

(to know that I was made in the image of my Fathers

and that I can worship in the spirit... and when I want

to be with him .. at any time night or day... good or

bad..... happy or sad.... even in my sleeping time...

HE is there... good times and bad times... he wants

that.. and that is something that I want to desire..

and should desire... and wow.... how awesome is that... )

Love God with all yur Heart and Soul

heartless praise is not praise at all it is

worthless and is an insult to God

(would not want to insult God with anything that I do...

and when I started to read the PDL.. I started to get into

how.. I can change things... how I can do things differently...

and how I can give HIM my all.... and I mean my all...

everything...... knowing that I love him with everthing.....

and not.... anyone.. else.... and I know that is the most

important thing and that was totally cool....

Real worship happens when your spirit

responds to God not when you become

emotionally moved by music

( I love music.... and when I read things.. in the words...

it sometimes hits emotional..... but tell you what ...

it does not all... happen... and has nothing to do... with...

all that .. responding in the flesh it has all to do with the

flesh.... it has to do with... the spirit... ith as to do with ...

the spirit... it has to do with in my heart .. where JESUS

resides... and where... my spirit resides... and how

powerful... it can be.....

many forms of praise are mentioned in bible

confessing

singing

shouting

standing in honor

kneeling

dancing

making joyful noise

testifying

playing musical instrument

raising hands

(even sometimes.... there is more then this.... there

is even sitting in silents... and sitting in his presents...

and knowing HE IS GOD.... knowing that HE is the

LIGHT OF ALL LIGHTS... and all knowing... wowo...

that still gets to me..

ONE SIZE FITS ALL

(ooooo that is soooo true.... I can worship like

anyone else.. If I could it would be the most

boring world.. that is why we all look different....

act different.... have differnt DNA... we are all

different ....

trying praising God without

praise,

hallelujah,

thanks,

amen

instead use

admire,

respect,

value,

revere,

honor,

appreciate,

also be specific

(got to looking at this.. and was seeing this and

was like .... UMMM OKAY.... but not use to these

words..... but will try to place them in my

vocabulary... and will do my best to add them...

it will be something that I will work on....

it is easy to say Praise you Lord..... but guess

I will look up new words..

Worship can be a witness -

what if a astranger was there

watching and did not understand

you and did not know when to say

amen or what you said how could

you be witnessing?

( wow when I read that.. I was floored... that

when I praise God andsomone was watching...

it was like wow... if they saw it... and did not

understand it... I was like okay.... how then do

I worship.... well I better.... learn to do it... in

reverance.... with a way to help others...

understand....

real worhip cost

Cost - our self centeredness

cant exalt God & yourself at same time

( cost alot of times means giving up of your

time of what you want to do and give it to

God and do what HE wants you to do.....

give HIM your time... HE wants your time..

HE wants your life... HE wants your ALL.......

everything ....

when you praise God even when you don't

feel like it, when you get out of bed to worship

when you're tired or when your help others

when you are worn out you are offering a

sacrifice of worship to God that please God

(when you don't feel like it.... is the time

you need it the most... when you want to

give up... or just go back to go back to

bed.. is when you need to get up and

praise HIM the most.... give HIM all....

give it allllllll to HIM......

Question to consider:

which is more pleasing to God right now -

my public worship or my private worship?

what will I do about this?

I am not sure which one ... public worship...

may offer the chance to witness to someone...

my private worship will give me the chance to

converse with God privately... either way....

it is continously...

Father thanks.. for all enlightment on how

to worship and thank you for teachin us

how to be with you .... as your children ....

and as your friend.... and as your close

friend... and as your ppl who worship you

for who you are ... thank you father....

amen

DAY 13

WORSHIP THAT PLEASES GOD

Love the Lord your God with all your heart
and with all your soul and with all
your mind and with all your strength.  Mark 12:30 (NIV)

God wants ALL of you.
God doesnt want a part of your life.  He asks for ALL your heart, ALL your soul,
ALL your mind, and ALL your strength.  God is not interested in half-hearted
commitment, partial obedience and the leftovers of your time and money.  He desires
your full devotion, not a little bit of your time, or little bits of your life.

I want to be in His Presence continually.  Not give Him little bits of my life.
I want to give Him all of my heart - share with Him all of my feelings,
even my disappointments over prayer requests or how circumstances have
turned out, my disasters, my griefs, my pain, my doubts, my despairing
which should not really get to despair, and seldom does, my depression,
which is not much now since He delivered me, my anger at Him, at life,
at those who have hurt me;  my heart, mind and soul will always be
sincere with God, what is the point otherwise?  He KNOWS your heart
so why pretend, do you think you can fool God?  what a relief too.  With ALL my mind - heart, soul and mind to me are all connected and with emotions
and feelings, intermingled.  One thing about me I am not insincere in my
relationship with God but maybe in some areas sincerely wrong I guess.

Where you worship is not as important as why and how you worship.  How much of yourself do you offer to God when you worship.  The Bible says, "Let us be
grateful and worship God in a way that will please Him".  Hebrews 12:28 (TEV)

1.  God is pleased when our worship is accurate.  Worship must be based on
the truth of Scripture, not our opinions or our imagination.  To worship in truth
means to worship God as He is revealed in The Bible.

2.  God is pleased when our worship is authentic.  When Jesus said you must
"worship in spirit" He wasnt referring to the HOly Spirit, but to your spirit.
Made in God's image you are a spirit that resides in a body, and God designed
your spirit to communicate with Him.  Worship is your spirit responding to Gods Spirit.

When Jesus said love God with all your heart and soul He meant that worship
must be genuine and heartfelt.  It is not just a matter of saying the right words;
you must mean what you say.  Praise to God that you dont mean, that doesnt
come from the heart, is not praise at all!  It is worthless, an insult to God!  When we
worship God looks past our words and sees what is in our hearts.

God hates hypocrisy.  But sincerity alone is not enough; you can be sincerely
wrong.  That is why both spirit and truth are required.  God-pleasing worship
is both deeply emotional and doctrinal.  We use both our hearts and our heads.

Many forms of praise are mentioned in the Bible: among them confessing,
singing, dancing, playing musical instruments, standing, raised hands, shouting,
kneeling, making a joyful noise, and testifying.  Hebrews 13:15 Psalm 7:17;
Ezra 3:11; Psalms 149:3; 150:3; Nehemiah 8:6.  The best style of worship
is the one that most authentically represents YOUR love for God, based on
the background and personality God gave you.

Gary Thomas noticed that many Christians are unhappy, unsatisfied because
they force themselves to use devotional methods or worship styles that dont
fit the way God uniquely shaped them.  Gary wondered, If God intentionally
made us all different, why should everyone be expected to love God in the
same way?

Naturalists love God out-of-doors; sensates love God through beautiful worship
services - with sight, smell, taste and touch, not just ears.  Traditionalists draw
close to God through rituals, ceremonies, liturgies, symbols, unchanging structures.
Ascetics prefer to love God in simplicity and solitude.  (I am ascetic).  Activists
love God through battling social injustice, confronting evil, working to make the
world a better place.  Caregivers love God through loving others and meeting
their needs.  (I am a caregiver).  Enthusiasts through celebration.  Contemplatives
through adoration. Intellectuals through studying with their minds.  (I am an intellectual),

Well it is very late at night, actually the very early hours of the morning;
I need to breathe and probably go to bed so will do Part 2 of this tomorrow.
Know I am falling behind but I will complete it.

God bless

DAY 13

WORSHIP THAT PLEASES GOD

PART 2

Jesus' command to "love God with all your mind" is repeated 4 times in the NT.
God is not pleased with thoughtless singing of hymns or perfunctory praying
of cliches or careless "Praise The Lords" when you cant think of anything else
to say.  If worship is mindless, it is meaningless.  It must engage your mind.

Even biblical terms can become cliches if overused.  I encourage you to read
the Scriptures in different translations and paraphrases so you can offer
fresh words to honor Him.  Try praising God without using the words, praise,
hallelujah, thanks or amen.  Make a list of synonymns and use fresh words
like admire, respect, revere, value, appreciate and honor.

Also be specific.  If you went up to someone and said I praise you 20 times he would say for what?  God is the same.  He would rather receive 2 specific
praises than ten generalities.  Jesus called thoughtless worship vain repetitions.  Another idea is to make a list of the different names of God.  Focus on them.
Gods names are not arbitrary; they tell us about different aspects of His
character.

God is pleased when our worship is practical.  "Offer your bodies as living
sacrifices - holy and pleasing to God.  This is your spiritual act of worship".  Romans 12:1 (NIV)  Why doesnt God say "Offer your spirit?"  Because without your
body you cant do anything on this planet.  God says "give me what you've got".
He is just being practical about worship.

You have heard people say "I cant make it to the meeting tonight but I will be
with you in spirit".  That means nothing, is worthless.  As long as you are on
earth, your spirit can only be where your body is.  If your body isnt there,
neither are you.

Real worship costs.  David knew this and said, "I will not offer to the Lord my
God sacrifices that have cost me nothing".  One thing worship costs us is our
self-centredness.  Your biggest distraction in worship is yourself - your interests
and your worries over what others think of you.

Christians have used many different paths over 2,000 years to worship God.
And enjoy intimacy with Him:  being outdoors, singing, dancing, studying,
reading, being creative, playing a musical instrument, serving others, having
fellowship, having solitude and participating in dozens of other activities.

When Jesus said love your God with all your strength he knew it takes effort
and energy.  When you praise God even when you dont feel like it, when you
get out of bed to worship when you are tired, or when you help others when
you are worn out, you are offering a sacrifice of worship to God.  That pleases
God.

The heart of the matter is a matter of the heart.

QTC Which is more pleasing to God, your private worship or your public
worship?  What will I do about this?

Well have some thoughts here.  At the moment I dont do public worship
as I dont like to go by myself but am seriously considering going to
church even on my own.  The thing Trisha pointed out being a witness
to a stranger there too is very important.  I think my private worship
does please Him.  I know I please Him by being creative with my writing
and even this study.  Yes I do that even when I sometimes dont feel like
going on my knees or praying I do even for a short while and always
use my words, honor, devotion, dedication, praise and thanksgiving,
before any petitions.  Yes I like my sleep too much and am just so out
of sorts if I dont get enough sleep for the whole day and cannot settle
and am restless.  But to get out of bed on a Sunday morning (I am a
night owl and up very late every night) and go to church on my own,
to use my body to go there, taking effort, energy, mental uses, I think
this would please Him.  It is not much to ask after what Jesus has done
for me, is it?  To publically worship Him.  Another point about people
serving others when they are worn out:  I think of Brenda here, and
Trisha and Yvette and many many others.  God bless you all.

40Days continues...

Day 13 Worship That Pleases God

God doesn't want a part of your life. He asks for all your heart, all your soul, all your mind, and all your strength. God is not interested in halfhearted commitment, partial obedience, and the leftovers of your time and money. He desires your full devotion, not little bits of your life.

A Samaritan woman once tried to debate Jesus on the best time, place, and style for worship. Jesus replied that these external issues are irrelevant. Where you worship is not as important as why you worship and how much of yourself you offer to God when you worship. The Bible says, Let us be grateful and worship God in a way that will please him. The kind of worship that pleases God has four characteristics: God is pleased when our worship is accurate. God is pleased when our worship is authentic. God is pleased when our worship is thoughtful. And God is pleased when our worship is practical.

When Jesus said, Love God with all your strength, he pointed out that worship takes effort and energy. It is not always convenient or comfortable, and sometimes worship is a sheer act of the will a willing sacrifice.

When you praise God even when you don't feel like it, when you get out of bed to worship when you're tired, or when you help others when you are worn out, you are offering a sacrifice of worship to God. That pleases God.

This is a poem I received in an email this morning:

To Each His Own
I cannot change the way I am,
        I never really try,
God made me different and unique,
        I never ask him why.

        If I appear peculiar,
        There's nothing I can do,
You must accept me as I am,
        As I've accepted you.

God made a casting of each life,
        Then threw the old away,
Each child is different from the rest,
        Unlike as night from day.

        So often we will criticize,
        The things that others do,
But, do you know, they do not think,
The same as me and you.

So God in all his wisdom,
Who knows us all by name,
He didn't want us to be bored,
That's why we're not the same
