JESUS WORE MY CROWN
I asked the Lord to show me To take me back with Him; Back through the portals of time These thoughts are His, not mine.
I will honor this request from you Because your heart is in tune with mine; It will be very hard to understand How inhuman people can be to a man.
The Word of God tells the whole story You know I was sent here from glory; I left my diety behind when I came My life would never again be the same.
I was tested by the devil so he could see There was no giving over of the Word; I was tempted and tried as I stood by his side "It is written", as I spoke, was all that he heard.
I taught thousands upon the hillsides I fed multitudes of people in the noonday sun; I knew that soon a night would come Those I loved would leave me and run.
As that night approached upon me I went to the garden of Gethsemane; I sweat great drops of blood in prayer I knew there could be no reprieve anywhere.
As Judas approached me in the garden He would not look directly into my eyes; Master, he spoke, as he gave me a kiss Betrayed into the hands of soldiers like this.
They took my clothes and put me on trial My silence seemed to make them angrier; Flog him, I heard, as I turned my head I wash my hands of this innocent blood, Pilot said.
They tied me to a post and took off my robe I could see the sickening smile on the soldier's face; There were nails and pieces of glass on that whip Thirty nine stripes with that whip I was hit.
My back was like a piece of raw meat It was bloody and torn, as blood ran down; My beard had been ripped from my face with intense force My eyes could barely see how to walk this course.
A crown of thorns had been slammed into my head Blood ran profusely down my face, it was said; My teeth were loose from blows I'd received I knew, as I fell with the cross, soon I'd be dead.
My cross was carried to Golgatha's hill On that cross I was stretched out tight; Spikes were nailed in my hands and my feet The searing pain nearly shut out the light.
They stood that old cross upright Then they dropped it down in a hole; It seemed every joint was wrenched out of place I no longer looked like I had a face.
In agony I gasped for breath after breath As I tried to push myself up on the cross. My breathing was torturous within my chest God's love for mankind demanded this cost.
My God, My God, why have you forsaken me Jesus cried out, as God the Father turned his face away; God, put on me, the sins of the world It was over, salvation's price I did pay.
It is finished, as Jesus struggled to speak The Lamb of God has paid the price; Now there is nothing left to do Just receive His blood sacrafice.
I could have called 10,000 angels To come down and set me free; But my beloved people, if I had You could have never been with me.
The Holy Spirit raised me from the grave; I ascended into heaven with my blood; In the Holy of Holies on the Mercy Seat Forever my blood makes man's salvation complete.
