God's Promises...

In God's Holy Word He has promised
That all who on Jesus believe,
That moment shall have sins forgiven
And life everlasting receive.

His promise is true and unfailing;
What blessed assurance it brings
To know that our sins are forgiven,
With rapture the trusting heart sings.

There's no need to think so or hope so,
Or wonder if life we'll secure.
God said it - so why not believe it?
His Word shall forever endure.

If man's mind had fashioned this promise,
There might be good reason to fret -
For mankind is often deceitful;
His vows he will sometimes forget.

And sometimes a man lacks the power
To do as he promised he would;
Or circumstances might well prevent him
From making his promise good.

But God does not have human frailties -
He never forgets nor deceives;
No circumstance can altar
His Word to the ones who believes.

By Him were created the heavens,
The earth, and all living things, too.
His pow'r has no limit nor measure;
There's nothing that He cannot do.

With confidence, then, we may trust Him,
Though Satan with doubts may assail -
For God is completely trustworthy;
His promises never shall fail.
