Hello everyone, I would like to request prayers for my grandson.  He has just turned 13 and is in grade 8.  He is being bullied at school and has been for a long time but he finally went to the principal yesterday and they are dealing with it.  Hopefully it won't make things worse for him.  He is not liking school or even life for that matter so I would request that anyone who has time , say a little prayer for him.  thanks and hugs to you all,

Hi Jennifer, I know how upsetting things like that can be as we had to deal with that when my son was in school too.  Know what we finally did?  We gave him Karate lessons!  That developed his strength and self-confidence and then the other boys stopped being so mean.  After that he knew how to defend himself.  Even now as a grown man, he is glad he knows Karate.  Of course, verbal bullying is worse to contend with, I believe.

Another idea is to invite the boys over for a cook-out and play games or do a scavenger hunt.  In other words, "kill'em with kindness" and see if they will learn to get along and respect each other better.  This has to be stopped though, as your grandson's self-esteem is suffering causing depression.  I will certainly be praying for him .. and you. One good thing, those years don't last forever and it will all be forgotten some day.  When I finally got my last one out of school, I was so happy I said the graduation party was for me!!!

Sending big hugs your way,
Monette

My son is in 8th grade, too. He is a year younger than everyone else as he skipped first grade and he is very smart so he was teased and bullied terribly last year. I could see him getting more and more down and angry. We tried dealing with the school and it really wasn't a big help. It was not only verbal but physical and Geordie is not the type to fight. We took him out of school last year at Easter time and started homeschooling him. This year he is staying home again and learning via a long distance learning program our state has. His mood and attitude is SO much better. He is in Scouts which is a good program for boys, taking piano lessons and goes on field trips for school.

I will certainly keep your grandson in my prayers because I know firsthand how hard it is for these kids. I feel SO bad for them and get angry at the parents who don't teach their kids better. If he has email and would like a penpal let me know.
