My Deposit in Safe Hands
"Nevertheless I am not ashamed, for I know whom I have believed and
am persuaded that He is able to keep what I have committed to Him
[lit. my deposit] until the Day." 2 Timothy 1:12
In times of old, before the existence of banks and storage places,
travelers used to leave their valuable things or money as deposit with
friends whom they trusted.  Upon returning home, they were sure to
find their deposits intact because they had been held in safe,
trustworthy hands.
The Apostle Paul knew well that he was a citizen of heaven and a
stranger on earth. During his earthly journey, he had decided not only
to deposit his heavenly home and treasures he was soon to enjoy,
but himself as well to God. What a wise decision. Being at peace that
his precious soul was in safe Hands, he had nothing to fear or be
ashamed of. His belief in God's goodness and faithfulness glorified
through the precious Blood of Jesus not only cleansed away every
worry, but also deeply rooted God's outstanding peace in his heart.
Friend, where is your soul deposit? Is it in banks? Is it in professional
success? Is it in health? I am not sure if these are trustworthy sources.
These sources may one day cause us to be ashamed. God is the only
one who will never let His children trusting children be ashamed. He
has promised, "They shall not be ashamed in the evil time". (Psalm 37:19)
"Our so sweet Heavenly Father, who else can I entrust my soul to?
Only You. Please accept my commitment to You. Keep my deposit safe,
near Your loving heart, so that I shall not be ashamed in the evil time.
In Jesus' name I ask. Amen"
